Just set up OH with a new cash ISA as the rate for his current ISA has dropped significantly. Last ISA was opened on 27th December 2023 so this is clearly a new Christmas tradition.
Paid for door and windows before Christmas. Spreadsheet updated now with all CC minimum payments. Looks like we will be c£500 left to debt neutral (due to paying the window company, would have been in surplus otherwise) plus we still need to work out how we're paying the £1k Mortgage Free fund.4 -
Well done on the ISA - I need to finish moving mine... and possibly reset my password!
Happy New Year in case I don't catch you again before. Well done on clearing the cost of the door and windows.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thanks SH.
Bad news on the parent health front, puts everything into perspective.
OH share save matures and he gets paid out end of Jan. Half earmarked for something for his workshop, other half will go into the pot so hope to be debt neutral and starting to build MF pot early in the new year.
Big turkey collected from Olii and cooked, stripped and put into containers for cats and dogs over next few days. My local volunteer collected loads of turkeys last night and apparently there are going to be more tonight. Such a waste!4 -

the OPs next year sound great ! Well done for the review as well - good to have a focused planDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Sorry to hear your family news ❤️ I know it's no comfort now, but I always find these events spur me on to work even harder towards FIRE, so I can spend more of my life enjoying my life. Hope everything goes as well as it can xMortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed
Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!3 -
Thanks SC, that's exactly where I am mentally right now.
Car charging schedule means I have bad cheap rate electric most of this morning so done two loads of washing, one in the TD and the dishwasher is on. Most of which could have been done overnight but I was all out of spoons.
Today will be animal related chores and sorting the house. Need to have a look in the fridge to see what needs to be used up / made into soup.
Family visit yesterday did not result in freeing up as much freezer space as I'd hoped - took lots down to family but brought back almost as much. Will be well set for fish based dinners in January.5 -
Sorry about the parental health news.
Well done on the food prep and org.

2025 goals
Surviving and thriving
Surviving will be about coping with parental health news and finding ways to minimize impact of work on my home life.
Thriving will be:
Financial
- minimise outgoings
- maximise income
Career
- work out what elements of my role interests me and develop my knowledge, experience and training in this area
Relationship
- make time for enjoyment, live music etc
Self-care
- reduce drinking
- healthy eating
- calorie counting
- batch cooking
- meal planning
Last two under self care also hel with reducing outgoings as there were too many takeaways when I was late leaving the office and couldn't face cooking from scratch last year.
In support of maximising income, I have applied for a bank switch on donor account this morning. Comes with a 6% savings account (up to £4k) so need to apply and fill that ASAP.4 -
OH's ISA transfer was completed today and interest earned means we are debt neutral and have savings of c£700!3
