The kitchen here is new - one double socket on the worksurface. And one single, next to the TV arial and holes where they took the wall mount down. Electrician is going to add LOTS MORE. I don't care about holes in the wall, I don't want to have to unplug the kettle or coffee machine to plug in the toaster...

Ah to be able to make tea and toast at the same time... or beans on toast using the microwave.  The struggle is real!

On the extension cables @South_coast tell me you at least buy the surge protection kind...

Good luck with the extra plug sockets. I think my kitchen has 2 double sockets - plus special wired in ones for oven, dishwasher and fridgefreezer. I too have to unplug things fairly often but so used to it now it wouldn't occur to me to change it.

Nice bonus today - OH's annual interest account matured and there was £200 more than I had in my spreadsheet.  Followed by £16 compensation from old bank account for them not telling me T&Cs had changed 16 months ago - account has been closed for 12 months!!

Got enough to max out cash ISA end of next month so am happy with that.

Spending too much otherwise but making progress on things in the house so I'm not too worried.

Pay day tomorrow, credit card statement will be generated on Monday then I can update numbers.

Free money is always nice - especially when it is from an unexpected source.

So my WIOTW figure would be £274,624.68 so a bit better than forecast last month. Sub £260k by end of year is looking less likely though with only 4 months left and nearly £15k to clear.

Mortgage is £313,415.06 and should be in the £200s by October 2024.

However, we have had to pay the first instalment for some work on a project car OH has bought and I have BT money towards the current month's credit card so the figures in my spreadsheet are skewed by that.

We have agreed a car sale which will complete next month and will bring in over half the money for the car project and still have a few bits to sell so should be able to cover most of it and get back on track.

Credit card bill will be generated in next few days and is hideous - roofing for workshop and emergency vet bill have doubled it from what would have been a bad month normally.

Not had quote from plasterer yet - we discussed having the work done in January so got some time to prepare and make sure money is available for that.

Sounds painful bill wise. Overall you are doing well still though.

Insurance claim submitted for dog needing grass seeds removed from her paw.  Emailed re v old savings account which I paid a small amount into to reactivate so I can close.  Got a feeling it was only £1 but needs to be closed anyway.  Life admin always seems to take so long!

Big bill for operation for our cat - will improve her quality of life but ouch.

OH job at risk of redundancy - will know in 6 weeks.  Worse case he gets made redundant - has been there six years so will get a pay out, plus has money in share save scheme so will get that back.  My salary just about covers the main bills but no big vet bills.  Despite saying we'll get on top of budgeting we have buried our heads in sand so hoping this will make us take it seriously.  Need to make sure we are in the best place we can be if it happens.

Booked plasterer for mid Jan to do kitchen so need to start project planning as there is a lot to do before then and much of it is dependant on other things e.g. need to plumb in radiator in bedroom before we can remove the radiators in the kitchen for plastering.  Mind you OH might have a lot more time on his hands by then  Ummed and ahhed about whether to delay this but it needs to be done at some point and we have savings we can use,

Nothing back on the insurance claim yet.

Am on leave this week.  Food preserving day today - pickling and bottling which I always enjoy - then free day out tomorrow to NT place, was planning on lunch out but might make alternative arrangements in view of job news.
