CCW007 said:Hmm, £10 a week over a year would be slightly more than one months interest payments on the mortgage - that sounds like a good target!
From 16th October 2023: £9.42 / £520DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Oops, accidentally sent £9.42 twice to OP mortgage! Was a bit worried as it didn't show against mortgage for a few days but it's there now.
Just cashed out another £7 from PA so £16.42 / £520.
Signed up with Prime Opinion as well so will see how I get on with that. Reduced electricity DD by £50 from next month as we are in credit so that will help. Credit card spends are low this month - hardly any grocery shopping has helped and not too much mindless spending.
OH pay day today so will get him to transfer over to joint a/c, my pay day is Tuesday so will have a better idea of where we are then.2 -

Excellent work on the low credit card spends 👍👍👍Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed
Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!2 -
Was hoping to avoid supermarkets but need dog food so having a cuppa then heading to @ldi - this is about the only time when it isn't heaving! Dog food, toilet roll, chicken for the cats, soya milk, cheese and tomato puree, that is all that's on my list so let's see what I end up buying.
Out tonight so will be a few drinks imbibed (by one of us, the other has to drive due to location of venue).
Freezers are rather full but quite a bit is destined to go to my sister's when I visit next weekend so hopefully have a bit more room after that. Inventory for the upright freezer is working well and we are much better organised - need to do the chest freezer when I get time.

£7.60 transferred from PA - £24.02 / £520. Will OP less the accidental OP from the other day.
Payday, money shuffled, then realised I have too much in joint a/c which doesn't earn much interest and need to shuffle back to my account to squirrel into linked savings at 5.2%. Ah well, it'll be well travelled money!
Need to parcel up and send off parcels for Ziffit and We Buy Books today - got a Music Magpie basket open but not reached minimum yet. Will be about £17 if all accepted and gets a bit of clutter out the house.
Will update figures on Thursday when mortgage payment hits and money settles in its proper places.3 -
Mortgage - £311,144.07
WIOTW - £284,996.57
Prediction for end of November - £278,947.17
Went a bit of the rails but back on it now. We will have peaks and troughs because we don't record a separate fund for work on the house or capital purchases so any time we buy anything or pay for anything the WIOTW figure takes a hit. Something to think about...2 -
£6.63 cashed out of PA and OPd to mortgage - £30.65 / £520. Parcels sent off to WBB and Ziffit, waiting for them to be received and checked.2
-
Another £9.82 cashed out and sent to mortgage - £40.47 / £520. Almost three days interest paid for by surveys
Pay award has finally been agreed and will be back-dated to April this year, however won't receive back-dated pay until December or January. Will be a nice end to / start of the year! My boss has also advised that I will be getting an additional payment this month for covering in my colleague's absence recently as I picked up a lot of her work and supporting her team over the last five months. Nice to be appreciated!2 -
£5.41 in from WBB - £44.88 / £520. Still waiting on Ziffit.
Restructure coming up at work, should find out more next week. Unclear what the impact will be - may be an opportunity for a promotion (not sure if I would want it!!), may mean nothing at this stage, likely to involve a new management structure and this might mean further change down the line if we get a new Head / Director. Time will tell.
Not wedded to staying where I am (although would like to see if out 6 months to my 2 year anniversary to protect my pension contributions), but not sure what I would / where I would go if I left so may lead to a bit more soul searching.3
