Air Austria woes

HI
We booked with Air Austria to fly on the 18th Feb from Heathrow to Bangkok, via Vienna.
We left Heathrow at bit late (Storm Eunice) and instead of arriving in Vienna at 22.55 we got in at 23.42.
Our Air Austria connecting flight was due to leave at 23.20 and I have checked the times, and it did not leave till 23.35.
So we missed our connecting flight by minutes !!
The Air Austria staff on the plane did not tell us ( there was about 10 people in the same position ) anything about our connecting flight status despite us asking on numerous occasions.
There was no one to meet us off the plane and we ran about the terminal for looking for some one to help us.
When someone did show up he was rude, basically telling us that there was nothing he could do and just gave us directions, telling us to walk, to a hotel that they had booked and left.
We ended up catching the same flight the next day, i.e 24 hrs later, because they couldn't offer us anything earlier.
I haven't yet contacted the airline yet because i wanted to find out where I stand.
And no, Air Austria haven't contacted me at all. No apology or any reason at all for not holding the connecting flight.
a well peeved
Charlie

with a delay due to weather there is no compensation due and your rights are to be given a replacement flight and provided with accommodation and meals during the wait
You mention being provided with hotel but if meals were not provided then you should be able to claim these under duty of care if you send in copies of your receipts
There is no requirement for airlines to delay flight departures for delayed passengers0 -
To be fair OP Vienna isn't exactly the hotspot of connecting flights and the risk of the planned 25min connection was always there - this can't be an alien situation for Austrian and I can't imagine they've more than a single flight a day to Bangkok and therefore an easy ability to re-route in these situations - in fact a quick look suggests only a single flight VIE-BKK but plenty of options LHR-VIE which would have given you a better chance of making the connection
You may well be peeved but you'd be better focusing on getting anything you're owed rather than holding out for an unwarranted apology0 -
Where can I find out the official reason for the delaycharlie0

if you have your flight numbers and dates there are many websites that will assist you in providing information on the flights.0

You are very brave to have gone for a 25 minute connection in the first place. As Austrian Airlines fly ex LHR 4x daily I think I would have opted for the LHR 15:05 VIE 18:30 flight and enjoyed dinner and coffee at Vienna before travelling onwards.1
