Emirates Cabin baggage

Hi All,

According to the website I am allowed to take one bag up to 7kg.

My laptop and camera weight about that but I still have alot of space in my cabin baggage and would like to take more.

Does laptop and camera could as personal items?
From experience do Emirates check cabin baggage weight?

Any info or suggestions welcome.

Airlines used to (I thought bizarrely) allow certain extra 'personal' items on top of your permitted cabin baggage.  A camera, laptop, coat, umbrella and things like reading materials for the flight and a walking cane, would be listed.

I think times have changed (and probably after people took the micky) and many airlines just call it cabin or hand baggage allowance and set a max weight and/or size condition.   I think EK is one such airline that just lumps everything together. If you are in economy it is 7kgs, whether a camera, reading materials, or a bag of feathers.

The only safe thing to do is to assume that they are strict on the allowance.  Presumably you don't want to be told that your hand luggage has to be put in the hold.

Isn't it one of those things where you have the bag with enough space to take the items but have the camera around your neck/in your pocket (depending on if its size) and then it goes in the bag when you are on the plane?
