So like many of you I had holidays cancelled due to covid. We received vouchers from our travel agent (BA flights booked through third party) and we’re now wanting to use them. We’ve researched flights through the third party’s site and found some that were less than our voucher but we just want to use them and go away.

I get in contact with the provider and they say it’s a £30 admin fee PLUS an extra £200 per passenger to rebook the flights. I’ve asked them countless times why rebooking costs so much but they’ve never given me a response. Is this actually rebooking and does rebooking flights really add on that much extra or are we being taken for a ride??

have you checked the flight prices on the airline website?
many online third parties do not have live pricing and deal with booking requests at which point they will then check to see what the live price is
Have you been through the third parties terms and conditions?

Why not mention the 3rd party?

I suspect £30 is their administration charge and the extra £200 could be just a difference in fare from one year's date to another.
  • If your original flights were booked pre pandemic, then the recent hike in fuel prices, reduced availability and increasing demand will have pushed prices up.

I have a flight "in the bank" with Emirates and if I had to pay for the dates I am now looking at the price has risen 30% in the last 3 weeks.

I've checked the prices on both the airlines site and the travel companies, they are around the same price and lower than the vouchers value but then they're saying rebooking isn't the same as a normal booking and we need to pay the extra

They're different flights, the airline and the travel companies website are showing around the same price for the flights lower than the voucher cost but they're saying the extra £200 pp is for rebooking as rebooking flights is more expensive

The voucher is worth more than the flights showing currently on their site and the airlines, the extra cost is due to them saying rebooking is more expensive than booking
  • Are the flights you are now looking at the same fare basis and class as the original ?

Yep they are, they're stating that because I have a voucher its rebooking flights not booking them, apparently rebooking is more expensive than booking
