Eighth Anniversary First Post Combo Breaker
Hi
My dual tariff is due for renewal next week - 22nd March - with SSE
I am being offered their Evergreen standard tariff at £185. They are also offering a fixed one year tariff at £275.
With the price increase in April what is best to choose?
Thank you

I have SSE for gas, and I can assure you that the numbers you have quoted are their current rates for SVR, not the rates that come into effect in April. In April they will be on the OFGEM cap, which is 7.48p/kWh and 27.2p/day standing charge. The same probably applies for electricity. I suggest you look very closely, before deciding.

The standard tariff looks pre April 1st 54% increase.

At the moment (even come April 1) you would be better off going onto their SVR.
The question is what happens in October when the SVR would be due for adjustment again? It's crystall ball gazing territory.

The fixed deals are very pricey. I would stick with the standard variable.

Note that those prices are specific to where you live, and won't necessarily be the same for the OP. You're right that the figures given above were fir before April though.

@dazzabee your energy use figures seem very low, particularly electricity. Are you sure they're right? They don't seem to tally with your quoted monthly payments either.
