Section 75 or chargeback?

But the first post only says that the hotel's offer was more than fair, that you were too late for a chargeback and that a s75 claim was unlikely to succeed if (i) there was a break in the DCS chain and if (ii) you were trying to claim more than you were legally entitled to. But presumably you didn't go down the s75 route anyway as you say you didn't pursue it further with JL.
So how did you get it resolved? Accept the hotel's offer? (It's always helpful to know how issues are resolved to help other readers and posters looking for solutions to similar problems).0 -
Yes. The first post entirely answered my question. I'm not sure what more you think it should have said.
I did send off the S75 stuff but I've now asked JL to cancel it as my friend who speaks Greek spoke to the hotel and they agreed I could have the same nights' stay for the same amount which is an end result we are both happy with. I saw some flights which were affordable so I've booked back in. Expedia have now cancelled the flights but that's another story and it is months away so I can sort something. I didn't put that in because that's not really helpful to anyone in a similar situation! But I suppose I would recommend talking to the accomm. direct rather than a booking intermediary in this situation if you can.1 -

Anyway I shall keep trying to get in touch with them again and see what happens.
The definition of "redeem" isgain or regain possession of (something) in exchange for payment.
You "gained possession" of the hotel room on the stated date and therefore "redeemed" the voucher.
The problem is that it was also a non-refundable room (by your own claims) so you had no right to be reimbursed with another voucher upon cancellation.
Anything you get from them will be purely as a GOGW and if they don't play ball, you'll need to take them to court in Greece. I suppose you could make it a twofer and book a holiday to Greece and spend some of your time litigating a pointless suit in their small claims courts, but personally, I'd rather just go to the beach.1
