Blu Ray player not recognised

I have a Panasonic DMP-BDT180 BR player, connected to the TV by HDMI. Normally as soon as the BR is powered up, it's recognised by the TV immediately and shows the player menu. There doesn't need for a disc to be installed.
It's now stopped doing this and it's not recognised in the TV input assignment settings. I've tried changing the HDMI cable and even tried a different TV to no avail. The player is 4 years old. Since the player doesn't have it's own display, I can't check any settings.
Any suggestions please?

Turn the player on. Using the TV remote manually switch to the input the player is connected to. Do you see the player menus?

There's an LED on the front panel which lights up. And I can hear the mechanism whirring.grumpycrab said:

If your TV has an option to change the HDMI type (standard or enhanced) change it to standard. On some TVs you may be able to do this on a per input basis.Otherwise...https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08BVV1SLV - new one for £80.

Check whether the HDMI-CEC has turned it's self off - look here. https://www.howtogeek.com/207186/how-to-enable-hdmi-cec-on-your-tv-and-why-you-should/?msclkid=4f8a04a1a69c11eca25b74fc179ae240
Every now and again my Samsung TV decides it doesn't want to play with my Sony surround system - it seems to happen when my wife is a bit too quick with the remote and the either the TV or Sony hasn't booted up fast enough.
We do have a Logitech universal remote which I've tweaked the timings but she can be very impatient and starts pressing buttons all over the place without giving it time to set up properlyNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers1 -
Thanks for your help everyone who replied, a tecchy mate checked the player for me and it had a failed main board. Not economic to replace.
I've ordered a higher spec DP-UB150EB-K model through Amazon warehouse for a bargain £116

Can we assume you have a 4K TV to take advantage and access to 4K material, otherwise it's not that much of a bargain.Grzzz said:Thanks for your help everyone who replied, a tecchy mate checked the player for me and it had a failed main board. Not economic to replace.
