Mifi vs tethering

Hi , my 1st query for a long time , I presently use my data on my phone to tether my firestick and tablet on Vodafone £14.62 for 120gb data this is done mostly in our static caravan,  would it be financially beneficial to reduce my mobile phone deal and buy a mifi to power my tablet and firestick.  I am not due an upgrade until November?

Probably no due to cost of MiFi unit and need to buy PAYG data for the times away.

But you need to do the sums based on what data you use when away and when at home and how close to the 120GB you get when away in any one month and the costs of alternative tariffs for phone and the costs of the mifi/tariff data to suit.

Does the static caravan site not provide WiFi?
  • No thankfully as they would only charge a fortune for it .

Unless you have a very expensive phone and want to take care of the battery, having separate mifi would be more expensive.

You may get just break even with a 3 unlimited SIM (Quidco have a deal that works out at £10.50)

Assuming you can get by on £4 PAYG on main mobile....

  • Thank you all , it would appear that I should just stick with my mobile data and see what it will cost extra to go unlimited data on my phone which is a Samsung S5,  I have never felt the need to have the latest phone .

Also if you have your provider moan about the teathering, then use a VPN before you teather. That way they can't work out that you're teathering. Because the first connection won't be the teather it will be the VPN.
  • Cheers Joey , I don't use a VPN at the moment .
