I do have a final query though, something I didn’t find a definitive answer to, although it has propped up in some discussion threads.

My hearing of the claim will be in mid-December and according to the ‘notice of allocation’ the claimant needs to pay the trial fee by mid-November which is some time away still. My WS needs to be submitted 14 days before the hearing but I am almost ready to send now. My question is should I delay sending the WS for a while? I've yet to receive a WS from the claimant (possibly waiting to see if I bother) I don’t want to be in a position that the claimant sends a WS just before the hearing leaving me with hardly any time to counter. I get the position that the alternative could be that I send it now and I get a discontinuance sooner. What's the recommendation here??

Quite simply, the earlier you file and serve your Witness Statement and evidence, the more time you give the Claimant to pull apart your submission. Alternatively, having seen your WS, the Claimant may decide to save themselves some money and not bother paying the hearing fee. Either of those arguments helps the Claimant - not you.

The converse, except for the court fee, is also true, which is why you won't see the Claimant's WS before the filing deadline.

Final version of my WS (redacted version) attached at the link below, sharing in case anyone needs. I've had nothing from the claimant party so may go and file with the court soon and look to obtain a discontinuance.

A massive thank you to all that helped.

Looks good. I reckon they'll discontinue.

Looked like your third quote from the POPLA Annual Report (the one about the NIP from the Police) needed a word added at the start of that quote, seems that it should start ' Unlike a NIP...

Went to hand my printed and primed WS in at the county court and was surprised over the lack of interest. Chap at the entrance, armed with his security paddle, told me to post it into the mail point around the corner. When I asked for a confirmation that I have passed it to the court was told he wouldn't be giving it but if its in the post box then it would be dealt with accordingly. (I hope!) Thought I possibly should check to see if I can also email it in but after finally finding the correct email address, I find that the email must not exceed 50 pages!! Just had to share as for some reason I was thinking the process would be a tad more efficient!

Ok I'm losing count of how many DCB Legal are on now...I received a discontinuance this morning. Will add the relevant details to the DCB record thread. Thank you to everyone for your words, your advice and your patience. A special mention for @Coupon-mad who I feel is the legend here, thank you loads! One for @Umkomaas as well...you may as well give me those lottery numbers now!  :)
    Woohoo!

    ANOTHER DISCONTINUANCE!

ANOTHER HIGHVIEW ONE BITES THE DUST!

And we sincerely hope @Sebi_895 that you are au fait with the need to respond to the final Govt Public Consultation?

Hopefully - amongst all the political disruption - it will be open later this year.

We all need to ram the nail in the coffin of the false £70 'DRA fee' add-on, that actually funds the court claim and toxic CCJ culture, as well as the DRA gaslighting of people.

Just checking you are among those ready to respond to the questions as you have personal experience of how this crap feels?

Please come back here when it opens, and you can make sure you don't miss the Consultation:

If you are not becoming a regular reader, to be alerted you'll need to bookmark the thread by MSE_JC at the top of the forum and enable (on your profile) email alerts for bookmarked threads.

Sorry if you knew all this already - I had no time to check back through the thread and know you've been posting to help others, so I expect you are ready to join us when the Consultation opens.
