Afternoon All
I have searched for other posts see if anyone been in similar situation but could not find anything, so apologise if I missed any info on this.
Long story short as I have every detail noted but too long for this post
So purchased kitchen from Wickes (2nd in 7 years new one due to house renovation) August 2021. Pushed back to be delivered when required building work done start of December. My kitchen fitter was on site and kitchen fitted by 14th December, some damaged doors as they are curved units. We were all set to celebrate the Christmas in our house with all family but due to missing doors we decided to cancel all plans with family. Due to lack of protective packaging and issues with Wickes quality check systems we had damaged and wrong colour doors sent as replacements. Today we have the final 2 doors arrived and just waiting for a time for our original kitchen fitter to return and fit them. In total I have in my garden 13 curved kitchen unit doors totalling around £2800 which Wickes have just written off. I was told that compensation for this situation could not be discussed until the issue was corrected so still waiting for them to be fitted. I could have saved an extra £580 if I had cancelled the order at end of November 2021 and reordered, it which still would have arrived before Christmas and been fitted, but decided against it to as no more delays, this was no help as still not done.
I could not cancel the kitchen as worktops had colour scheme had been designed around the curved units so I was stuck, I was even in a position before Christmas after all the communication with the Wickes management team were it was advised I should contact the manufacturer to source the unit door as they could not get them.
I am wanting to know what people think I should be entitled to as means of compensation or what I should request?
Thanks MSE Army
Keep up the good work everyone
(I do have all the information dates and communications if great detail if needed)

Sorry MSE Army just noticed I have posted in the wrong section its more about consumer rights not DIY. Can it be moved? or can a admin move this? Let me know if I can?
Thanks everyone0 -
The following is my opinion, and I'm not a lawyer.
1. Not cancelling and reordering was your decision. Compensation = zero.
2. Not having family for Christmas - probably your decision. Compensation = zero.
3. Delays in sending correct replacement doors. Whatever your actual financial loss was so probably also zero.
4. Cost of getting rid of 13 incorrect doors. Actual cost of disposal, but better if you got Wickes to remove.0 -
I'm sorry, but cancelling christmas with your family due to some missing kitchen unit doors seems a bit extreme. That fact is irrelevant to any compensation claim.
I'm not sure what compensation you expect to receive. You chose to order when you ordered. The fact that Wickes then subsequently had a sale is not their fault so that's irrelevant too.
You chose to buy your kitchen and arrange your fitter separately - that's not Wickes' problem and they won't compensate you for any additional fitting costs. They may offer you a goodwill gesture but it's unlikely to be honest. If you had booked your fitting through the kitchen supplier, they would have covered the cost of the fitter coming back.
Also, I'm sure most Wickes kitchen doors are pre drilled for hinges so it should be a straight forward job to fit them yourself?3 -

Is this the point where we learn about the priceless vintage china collection that would be sent tumbling to the floor by the family's energetic toddler / boisterous spaniel / sixteen cats if the doors can't be closed?Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -

Did you have any additional costs or financial loses as a result? For example, days taken off of work to wait in or paying tradesmen who then couldn't do anything because the wrong or damaged parts had been sent? That is the sort of thing I would be expecting to receive compensation for. And Wickes should definitely arrange or pay for the removal of the incorrect items they delivered, it shouldn't be down to you to dispose of them.0
