Have you asked if they can reproduce the issue in store or a workshop on the same set? If they can then they'll probably want to help with selecting an alternative set?
Lip sync is an issue for some viewers more than others.
On broadcast (EBU) it is acceptable within a 10 ms early to 20 ms late tolerance (tho the BBC requires tighter on most programme delivery - +/- 5ms to allow for added errors later in the broadcast chain).
Advice from Clem on AVForums was to try TruMotion setting adjustments as they may help?? Not to sell your TV.
My advice is to invoke the Retailer as they are the one you have a Contract with - not LG.

LG TVs Lip Sync

I bought an LG TV (UP8100) back in November 2021 from Richer Sounds. I have found the picture very good indeed, WebOS pretty good and responsive, with a wide selection of apps.
HOWEVER, sound synchronisation issues are driving me crazy. By and large, it's OK on broadcast (satellite) TV, but sound is often 30ms out of sync on content delivered via Prime and Plex (possibly others I have not tried). You can add 30ms audio delay on the TV, but it is a fiddle, and then you have to turn it off again for other sources (it was settable per app, but this has changed with the recent software update). LG support are of no help.
(Has anybody else had this? I understand LG are notorious for sync issues, and when I asked about it on AVForum, the advice was to sell sell it and never by LG again....)

Check the device thats transcoding the plex media. After swapping to a higher end Synology NAS we have not had any issues
with sound sync on Plex.
Previously we often had to tweak the sound settings.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...1 -
Thanks, but a) it happens on Amazon Prime as well, and b) I have a good Qnap NAS, which should/does handle content OK.forgotmyname said:Check the device thats transcoding the plex media. After swapping to a higher end Synology NAS we have not had any issues

Another thing I have noticed is that, if I have 0ms delay set, switching BYPASS to ON increases apparent delay substantially!0 -
Hi, how are you connecting your sources to the internet? Sometimes a quick tweak to the router can help.
I have an LG OLED TV and a Synology NAS set up to view Plex content - no issues whatsoever.
Don't have Prime but Netflix has no sync issues either.

I have tried both WiFi and ethernet (60mbps) to tv. No difference. NAS is also 60mbps ethernet.Sebi_895 said:Hi, how are you connecting your sources to the internet? Sometimes a quick tweak to the router can help.

Richer Sounds are usually pretty good... and have a 6 year warranty... and you are still within the 6 month no need to prove a fault is inherent to reject timescale.1

Yes, trying the retailer at the moment. I have emailed the details (as easier than describing over the phone) and will follow up with a call.
Just tried a few experiments: nerd for audio delay on Prime is inconsistent (e.g not everything seems to need it, and it's not related to resolution). Same content through built-in Plex needs delay added, but via Chromecast doesn't.
I REALLY like having Plex built-in, one of the main reasons I went with LG.
Sometimes the out-of-sync is subtle, and sometimes obvious, but adding 30ms audio delay (per the TV anyway) seems to correct it. Having 30ms audio delay when not needed looks awful!0 -
I have this on a hisense TV, usually with Prime - didn't take me long to learn how to change the settings - I'm now a dab hand!0

It's 10 button presses to turn delay in or off on the LG.......flashg67 said:I have this on a hisense TV, usually with Prime - didn't take me long to learn how to change the settings - I'm now a dab hand!0 -
That was disappointing. Got email back from RS just saying call the RS 'help desk'.Rodders53 said:Richer Sounds are usually pretty good... and have a 6 year warranty... and you are still within the 6 month no need to prove a fault is inherent to reject timescale.Have you asked if they can reproduce the issue in store or a workshop on the same set? Automated reply on help desk number says (eventually) 'press 2 for LG'.
"We will now connect you to LG help desk"...
Which was pretty useless - "ooh very rare problem (contrary to what the Internet seems to claim). Can't do much about that. You could send it back to LG and have it tested if you want"0 -
I have had this before with a philips set, it was the picture enhancment that was the culprit.Try setting a game picture mode if it has one, and see if you still have the problem, as game mode turns off all the enhancments.1
