Over Estimated and Increased Fixed Tariff
I have a 3 year fixed with Edf that I did in Sept last year. I started a fresh without inputing my consumption and they gave me a price of £86 per month for both utilities. I knew at some point my DD would change after a couple of bills as they would see my usage, so I was shocked when last week they contacted me saying my payments would increase to £276!! They have estimated that we will use 5107 kwh of Electric which is over 3000 more than my previous years usage. I have monitored my consumption over the last few days and we are only using about 6kwh a day and that's based on a weekend when we are both home there is just me and my hubby in a 2 bed house. My last two bills one in Dec and one this month covers 153 days and we have only used 895Kwh i really do not know what they are basing their estimate on, I can only contact them via WhatsApp as my tariff does not allow use of the call centre and did so two days ago and I am still waiting for a response. If I cannot contact them I am thinking of cancelling my DD and paying through my bank on the day its due, as I am not paying £184 which is the portion of the monthly payments that they are saying is for my Electric. Also this morning I have noticed the tariff that is quoted on my account on the app has changed both the unit rate and standing charge is different from my last two bills. I am on a fixed tariff untill 2024 so I didnt think they can change my tariff like they have or have I missed something.

Try Chat and give them your estimated Annual Consumption figures.
I assume that EDF has used actual figures .Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
I have contacted them through chat and was directed to WhatsApp but it said it could take 45hrs for them to reply. I have wrote a detailed messge to tell them why i wont be paying the £276 a month. I joined edf last September so they have estimated my Electric consumption for the next six months till Sept 22. I had one bill in Dec last year and another upto Feb 22nd this year from them. In that 21 week period we paid £248 Inc vat for our electric based on readings leaving us another 31 weeks to pay. They have said they are raising my DD to cover my estimated usage they said I need to pay £184 a month to pay my Electric and not be in arrears at my next review in Sept. That's £1104!!! The figures just dont add up. I use an average of 6kwh a day which add up to just over 2100kwh not 5107 they have estimated. I have my bills from my previous supplier for Sept 20-21 and we used approx 2200kwh.

I am on a fixed rate till Sept 24 so my tariff shouldn't change, although I have discovered this morning that they have altered my tariff and put my unit rate and standing charge up for both my gas and electric!!0

@Peri - my Sept 24 v2 has a Smart meter condition - does your fix and if so have you had a Smart installed ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1 -
When I joined them in Sept on the fixed rate.
My gas was 3.73 per unit with a standing charge of 24.87 and my Electric was 18.79 and 25.54.
If I view my Tarrif on the app my gas is showing 3.92 and 26.12 and my Electric is 19.73 and 26.82. I didnt think they could do that I have a fixed rate for 3 years. Whats more confusing if I press the change my tariff button it says my current monthly payments on my tariff are £164 for both my utilities but they are increasing my DD to £276!! Ive just tried to contact them again on Sms and it Approx 47hrs for anyone to reply.. ive been waiting on whatsapp over 48hrs now. I am going to attempt ringing tomorrow. But I am seriously considering cancelling my direct debit and and on the 1st when it should go out making my own payment if they don't contact me.
