I would say leaflet dropping is a good thing to try for your type of business.  Many older people need a gardener and are not on the internet or facebook.  You can do it yourself after work each day.  I did this with my business similar to yours and leaflet dropping was what got my name around the best (as well as word of mouth).  I covered every house in my town and I still now a couple of years later get people enquiring based on me dropping a leaflet to them.  They literally had my leaflet pinned to their fridge for the last 2 yrs!

I really struggle at the moment to get regular customers.
My folks have a gardener who comes once a fortnight and cuts their lawns between mid March and mid October.  He does quite a few gardens in their development / village.

He also cuts their hedges twice or three times a year also.

If people are asking you to cut lawns, why arent you "booking them in" for the summer?

If its ad hoc gardening you're doing, are you offering a quote for doing their lawns for them once a fortnight?

The guy that does my folks does certain areas on certain days so he operates back to back and gets road a load of them very quickly.

If you're doing a garden in a street / development regularly, are you polling all the houses there too?  - "Just thought i'd call, i do Mr Jones lawn once a fortnight for him, do you want me to book you in?"

If you're cutting trees / hedges at one house, do you look at others nearby then go rap their doors?

Older people and the relatively well off are most amenable to grass and hedge cutting services.  I'd be targeting streets / areas with those types of homeowners.

I’m advertising on FB every day in local groups, have an ad in the local monthly magazine and have a Facebook page.
Advertising every day might look a little desperate and will probably annoy people. It would be much better to only post something like once a week unless someone specifically asks for something that you can provide.
