From what I can see the app doesnt show the live usage?  Its just an easier way to see whats on the octopus website.
Correct, the only way to see live information is to have the IHD connected and working.

Thats the same meter, and in that instance it was said the installer is supposed to pair it, I dont think he paired mine, he just handed me the unopened box.
That's shoddy work by the installer, they're meant to show you the IHD working before they leave.

If you have bars top left ( if it can't connect they flash) and the time, then it has connected to your meter.

It may still need Octopus to do something.

FYI, it can take quite a while to start showing data the first time, with good signal.
I left mine sat in the meter cupboard for a few hours, once Octopus did their change.
Although batteries only last a few hours.

How far is your flat from the meter (and what is between) as the range is not good on these things.

Mine is at the limit 6m and 2 walls away.

Yep I decided now need to wait until Monday and ring them.  I did send an email but they probably wont respond as their email service has gone to crap.

Its definitely connected from what I can tell from the guides, after I power cycle, the symbols initially flash, then they stay solid.

My kitchen is probably my nearest room to the meter, and I would guess roughly about 3-5 metres direct line of sight and through two walls.  The signal stays on when I move to my bedroom though so unless the signal meters are not accurate, all indications are it is connected, but just not getting any data.

I leave it in the kitchen.

Give it time. It took Octopus over 10 days to set up my gas account after I switched to them in January. You should receive 2 messages on your IHD: ESME commissioned and GSME commission once everything is at is should be.

Hi guys, spoke to one of the smart meter team today, the reason the IHD isnt active is the gas is not yet fully hooked up to the smart meter billing system.  They were waiting for that, but he told me he can do the electric on it today, but the gas will come on line later.  I forgot to ask him but I assume this will delay my eligibility for octopus agile as well.

In terms of the readings coming in, they still averaging around 25% lower than the lowest daily readings on the old meter, and about 30-40% lower overall.

6.3 average since the install day, lowest daily reading I took from old meter was 8 which was rare.

The balance on my account now also says its under review on the status.

Could that be a result of you being more aware of usage in general, and turning things off more?

IIRC for instance, you mentioned previously the XBox was on standby, but is now off?
That could have been 0.5kWh on its own.

    Agile - incoming or outgoing?

Nobody will ever really know, so it is just down to Octopus to see if they make a customer service gesture or not.
The opportunity to actually prove anything has gone now.

Xbox was turned off ages ago way before the meter swap, (its also back in now on standby, seemingly barely registering).  So the higher daily meter readings I took on the old meter were with it off.

My usage is pretty much the same, and on the first day post swap was actually higher deliberately.  Still using my PC, fridge on same setting, nothing unplugged that was plugged in pre swap.

What the live usage starts working on the IHD is when I will start unplugging things again.
