Morning everyone
Yesterday afternoon I painted a garden seat and a planter - it was blooming freezing. Ten minutes after I'd finished the sun came out!
I'd made a cup of tea and got comfy with my paper by then though.
They could both do with another coat and some point this week.
Still just working afternoons this week - I'm so lucky to have my boss!
I just rang the doctors and after quoting the Nice guideline to the receptionist managed to get a face to face appointment with the best ( in my opinion) doctor in the practise for next Thursday morning. She tried to get me to accept a telephone appointment but I stood my ground!
Gers - happy new car day - enjoy it.
TA - you'll be covered in bruises
Nelski and Scarlet Ribbons - glad you're feeling better
Camelot - handy you had golf clubs waiting in the loft
Better go as I need to walk along to the post office and Asda - I'll bus back.
Have a good day everyone. Take care x17 -
Hi everybody,
Nelski, I'm sorry you've been ill. Worrying about your mum can't help, has your brother not taken over some of the care since you've been ill? I know he lives down south but I lived 200 miles from mum and still managed to visit her more often than two of my brothers who lived less than 5 miles away (we won't mention the brother who lives near me, never visited but still wanted to do a eulogy at the funeral). My youngest brother was brilliant though and visited her most days.
I managed to do the binding on the largest quilt I had to do yesterday so just three more to complete and then I can move on to something new.
It looks like it's going to be a nice day, we might get out into the garden for a while and finish tidying up before the new growth starts to take over.
I need to have a bit of a tidy round as well, I might not get on tomorrow because Steve has an eye appointment and I have a blood test in the morning and then we will be going down to Laura's. The NHS seem to have farmed out the blood tests, instead of going to the local surgery I have to go to Bedford, 8 miles away to a Gym to have it done. Fortuitously, for once it is in the same road as the place Steve had his eye surgery (another NHS farm out) and the appointments are less than an hour apart so it's quite convenient for a change.
TA take care, those falls can really shake you up.
NMLC, I hope your colleague is back.
Hugs to those that need them.
Have a good day.

Hello all, the sun is out and we have blue skies so the wm is on, I shall hang the washing outside when it's done. The dw is ready to start up too when I've put the breakfast dishes in it. It's all go today as DGD is here as her school has another training day, I'm sure they have more than 5 per year 🤔 but she's no bother and we are taking her to her private horse riding lesson midday so that will break up the day. Bless her she'd even saved up for it herself, £40 for 40 minutes 😨 I have no clue what to have for lunch as it will be a late one, but we'll find something. Right the wm has finished so I'll hang it out now and hope the washing dries.
TA ouch! Hope you're not too sore, sadly you are now a fully paid up member in the Clumsy Clara club.
Nels hope you're feeling much better, D&V is sooo horrible. Hope your Mum is, fingers crossed, not like Dad who won't let you take any action/ get any help for them 😬 I'm here if you need me. 🧡
Coxy and Sunflow3r glad you're both home safely.
Gers happy new car day 🚗

Lovely bright, cold morning here - and very wet underfoot. I feel for my friend who will have been out across three fields this morning, checking on her ewes and lambs. She's already noticing an increase in the costs of feed cake, and milk for the bottle-fed lambs.
This morning's mail brought a pattern for several styles of Edwardian ladies tam o'shanters (I'm a costumed volunteer at a National Trust property), a M*rks&Sp*rks polo neck thermal top, a Spring plant catalogue from a well-known nursery, and an invitation to get my state pension (finally) - woohoo!
Both DH and I are going for haircuts this afternoon - a friend has a salon set up at her smallholding and we've been going to her for eight years, ever since we moved down here.
TA - ouch, that fall sounds scary. Hope you aren't too bruised.
Nelski - hope you are feeling better. D&V are so debilitating!
Scarlet - hope that sore throat eases and you can enjoy your meet-up
Gers - a new car! Exciting!
Hugs and thoughts to all who could do with them xxx
Enjoy your Monday, everyone!17 -
Morning! Absolutely gorgeous day here, cars needed defrosting though.Hope you're feeling a bit better Nels, and your worries about your Dm can be eased.TA, oh no! I have a folding step stool that collapsed when I stood on it the other week. Nothing to do with my weight you understand
, it just wasn't fully locked open. Hope the bumps and bruises aren't too bad.
Jackie glad you've got those niggly jobs done for you.Get well soon Scarlet, sounds a bit like me, I'm coughing a bit after a throat ,so have cancelled my cousins coming for lunch, we'll do it next week instead. Shame as the house was all nice, clean and tidy. I'll have to keep on top of it for another week nowEasy tea of salmon tonight. I'll just have it with green veg. I'm doing a low carb diet in prep for the Greek wedding & made some cheese 'scones' made with almond flour yesterday, they're ok, a bit heavy but will do in an emergencyHope it's a good day for you all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Lovely day yesterday. Went to a lunch party at a golf club. It was to celebrate one of my friends eightieth birthday. There must have been around 40 guests. Room had been decorated by her two daughters and we were all given a bag of sweets to take home.
Back to reality today.
Hope you are too shaken up TA after your fall.
Happy new car day GERS15 -
Morning all. Sunny! Which is why I'll be unfurling the whirlygig and sticking things on the line this morning. WM on, DW on, I'm on a roll...I asked OHs mum to take me shopping yesterday, and boy have the prices gone up even in BM.. Three tins of tuna that the cats like used to be £3, now £3.50, coffe for OH was £1.69, now £2, bread £1.20, now £1.40, tinned beans 55p, now 60p. It was like that for everything, the only cheapish thing I found was a reduced celery. I used to occasionally enjoy a tin of asparagus soup with sandwich. Looked at the price of one, £2.50! decided against. I did splash out and buy some frozen oven chips, first time in years, when we eat chips normally, it's a chippie tea as my friend calls it and that doesn't happen very often and some ice cream.. I did buy some chicken fillets which were the bit on the underside of a breast, you know the triangular long thing piece, which was cheaper than breast fillets, so tonight we have a chicken enchilada type thing I think.I eventually got round to doing an inventory of the freezers and have filled the fridge freezer properly. I've started doing the shelves of normal food too so that's a job to finish after.Scarlet, hope your cough goes...camelot, I feel your pain, I took apart a poncho thing I'd been making, it was way too big but I'd done lots of it before I realised. TA, rest up! It's a shock to the system something like that...Nelski, everyone is allowed ot be a bit self pitying sometimes, normal, and if you can't do it when you have D&V when can you? I think your brother needs to have it impressed on him that he needs to step up. Gers, I'm not sure how many people wouldn't support a gin tasting
WB Coxy, sounds interesting...Jackie, if I thought it would work for OH I'd get him a Ninja today! dp1, never even heard of them, have had a quick look and will be reading more later on. LH, someone posted a video on his post in the prepping thread of a farmer going through the price increases in fertiliser etc, it's quite scary. Rosy, hope you get well soon too. Right, off to be more mobile as the physiptherapist said, motion is lotion ....Take care of yourselves all, it's a worrying world atm...

Back within the hour from my little bus ride into town. Meds collected and a few bits and bobs bought in Poundland. It was lovely in the sunshine and such a treat not to be muffled up in scarf and gloves. It's still about half and half in masks on the bus - better safe than sorry.
I forgot to welcome Lady Harriet to our happy little band. And Get Well wishes to our poorlies - NELS that bug sounded nasty. Hope SCARLET and ROSY are soon over their poorly throats and coughs. And MR RUBY is soon well again. I have had no ill effects from my tumble off the steps, it shook me up at the time but I think the bash on my head may have knocked a bit of sense into me! Oh and Happy New Car day to GERS. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"18 -
Afternoon - I had a very soggy drive down and back up the peninsula, really nasty weather. Did the car thing and have to say that, despite my reservations, I'm already enjoying it being automatic. It's a bit weird and I had to push my left leg against the side to keep it out of the way. Nice smooth and nippy drive home in the pouring rain. Now it's back to old clothes and porridge as the current account is now cleaned out! My local fuel station has diesel at £1.84 a litre, I have to remember to fill up with petrol.Nels - good that you're feeling better, D&V is horrible.Coxy - welcome back, it's such a shame that the weather was so rotten, it's not what you expect.LH - welcome to the thread.First thing I did at home was to heat up my lentil soup - so hungry!16
