Save Water and Money

in Water bills
My Tip. If you have a water meter fitted.
If like our house you have to run off cold water before it comes through hot, saving that run-off can save you money on your bill in two ways. One in Supply and two in sewerage charge. in my case 3 litres of water was wasted every time hot water was needed. So now I collect it in a jug. Use it for Kettle refills, pets water etc. Three litres may not seem a lot but multiply it by the number of run offs per day and multiply by 365 and you have a reasonable saving for being a little more careful

To put it in perspective you would be saving 1,095 litres of water a year if your estimate is correct, that works out as around £2.50 total saving in most of the country.Littlewesty said:My Tip. If you have a water meter fitted.

Aha I suspect you don't have a wife like mine, who'll run cold water till it gets hot, just to wash her hands or a cup, etc. No my idea is to eliminate the wastage, however big or small. A lot depends where your combi boiler is, how far the water has to travel etc.0

If you wash your hands with cold water (which is sufficient for most situations) you don't just save water, you also save energy, a much higher saving with much less effort.1
