It will not happen this side of October.Staffordian11 said:There was talk recently of the capping period being reduced from six months to three to give more flexibility. Has anyone heard more of this proposal?

Its not always for Gov't to step in and help, it's a free market and these prices are driven by global supply shortages.jimexbox said:Our government is there to help protect UK citizens in times of crisis. It needs to step up to the plate. A lot of folk will be struggling in April. October could be catastrophic.
Of course there are certain households and individuals that will need additional support, but for many of us if we really want to offset the costs then it just means giving up a night out every month, a few less take aways, maybe one less holiday this year, why should we all face higher taxes to fund those who could afford the higher prices if they just get a grip on their finances and live within their means.

There are millions of low paid on minimum wage, the elderly and those who genuinely can't work. Who don't drive range rovers, have any holidays or takeaways. Who will be desperately worried about heating their homes next winter.savers_united said:Its not always for Gov't to step in and help, it's a free market and these prices are driven by global supply shortages.

It's the responsibility of government to ensure these people do not suffer. I'm fortunate that I can afford it. Let's think about those who genuinely can't.

Perhaps we all need to do something for ourselves. However small. Rather that expect to be nannied.jimexbox said:Our government is there to help protect UK citizens in times of crisis. It needs to step up to the plate. A lot of folk will be struggling in April. October could be catastrophic.0 -

Do something for ourselves, rather than be nannied? You do realise that our government isn't some separate entity. It exists to serve us, we pay for it. Its primary function is to protect its citizens. If some of those citizens require help at certain times, that's its role.I'm lucky enough that the energy crisis is largely irrelevant to me. I'm not blinkered enough to know that this isn't the case for millions of our fellow citizens.1
