Smart Parking Fine - Angouleme Retail Park, Bury - Landlord won't help

Hi All,

Sincere apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but I couldn't find information that could help me with this.

I visited the
Angouleme Retail Park back in October, paid for parking as expected but it turns out I paid using the council ticket machine instead of the that of smart parking. There isn't a clear demarcation in the car park so many people have fallen victim of this. unfortunately, I took a few steps to get this fine cancelled before I came across this amazing forum.

I appealed the fine with POPLA but got rejected. I went to TKmaxx and showed the manager receipts of my purchase on that day thinking she might help but referred me to the landlord instead. The landlord wasn't of much help either. They advised i pick the matter up with Smart Parking. I'm receiving debt collection letters for £170.

Any tips on how to deal with this will be really appreciated.

Regards

But come back if Smart use a solicitor to file a small claim, like you see us win every week on here.

You must not ignore a court claim and must tell Smart, if you move house.

You could have won the first appeal with one email if you'd come here first.  Really sad for us to often read (too late to stop you) that people have appealed already, as driver, telling the story of what happened, thereby binning their 100% slam dunk appeal win they would have had as registered keeper.

    No you've misunderstood.

You simply win at POPLA with a one liner.

Read ANY other Smart Parking POPLA thread to find it.

    Hi All,

Could do with help on this same issue at Angouleme Retail Park, Bury. This incident happened on 27/10/2021. I paid on the council car park machine within the same car park, not knowing that there is line demarcating what is Smark Parking Car Park and the council car park. Apart from the failed appeal, I've ignored all communication from them. This afternoon, a letter came from HM courts and tribunal service  and I could do with some help on how to deal with this. The total claim is £311.88 of which the court fee is £35.

I would be grateful if you advise on the steps I should take.

    1. Start a fresh thread.
    2. Use the template defence
    3. They'll discontinue next year.

....... and when you do start your new thread, tell us the date of issue of the N1SDT claim form and we can give you the deadline for defence submission.

This is the OP. It is their thread!

Why not read the 2 of 3 dozen Smart Parking DCB Legal claim threads I've collated as links in a post on page 14 of the Public Consultation thread?

DCB Legal claims are all the same and they'll discontinue in 2026. Game over.
