shoreham parking ticket

I received a parking ticket, using the carpark at my gym in the Shoreham Basin area. I parked at a time when the carpark is not open to the public.

As a gym member I am allowed to park there, I just have to put my details into the computer at reception.

I would imagine any regular parking attendant would recognise my car.

£100 or £60 if I pay early, seems very excessive, as I am permitted to park there, for free.  They say I am unauthorised, but really, as a gym user, I am authorised.

Have you complained to the gym?
    Get them to cancel it.

    Who is the parking company?

How do you know it wasn't a failure of the keypad at reception?

I very much doubt that, if they are daft enough to take you to court, they will prevail.  It is a trifling matter and many judges regard this as a waste of court time, read this and complain to your MP

Thank you all for your replies.
I have contacted the gym, and they say they have no sway in the matter. I think the carpark is under control of Shoreham Port.
The company who issued the PCN is GXS who serve the port area.

Yes I have spoken to gym, they say they can’t help, and regularly fall victim to PCNs too.

The parking company is GXS who serve all the car parks in the Shoreham port area.

I have returned to the carpark this morning to check the signage. All of the signage I can see is regarding parking between 6pm and 6am.
I however was parked there before 6pm, and can’t see any details about my liability for that time period. I am wondering if this helps my case …

Might do. What exactly does the PCN say, including times? Are you totally sure that the driver did not enter number, rather than forget to press confirm twice?

    The PCN states:
Notice if the charge having been clearly displayed on the signage in and around the site. The period of parking to which this charge relates is the period immediately preceding the ‘Time of Issue’ above.

Thanks for the info, but are they saying that the vehicle was unauthorised because it was outside of permitted hours or something else? If the signs stipulate (as you say) 6pm to 6am, what do the signs say happens outside these times? I would like to see the signs and the redacted PCN.

Is the PCN PoFA compliant and do they know the identity of the driver?

If the driver regularly uses this gym and regularly inputs vehicle details, would it not be a point to make them prove that on this occasion he/she had not ????

Lovely evidence that the signs create no terms before 6pm!

Have you appealed as per the NEWBIES thread? Then (after the inevitable rejection) try the kangaroo court of IAS with the above signage evidence.

GXS will probably bail out, I reckon!
