it was 6-8 weeks in the contract but she contacted us after we paid the full amount and said she was having some personal problems and the final edits may be delayed. We got some photos then nothing for months. Then she created a road map apologising for the editing process taking longer but this was dec 21 and she wasn’t looking at ours till Feb 22 but nothing changed and she said we would be informed of any delay which was not forthcoming. She was not a new photographer she had a good online presence and we got on with her and she good on the actual day but then really bad since then!I should of given a time line in my letter but due to Covid the postman signed for collection but this doesn’t mean she lives there anymore!! So I also don’t know if she has even seen the letter0

You got 60 photos - how many did you pay for ie how many more are outstanding?
It COULD be that the photographer has technical problems eg a corrupt memory card in the camera. It may be that your photos are irrecoverable and that is why they are fobbing you off.1 -
well 60 were just the previews!!0

I suspect you're right, or that the card has been lost, stolen with the camera or similar. At the very least, it would be easy for the photographer to send the raw images and get the OP of her back. That she hasn't done so suggests something's amiss.cx6 said:You got 60 photos - how many did you pay for ie how many more are outstanding?

Of course, the other explanation is that the photographer is ill, has had to attend a family emergency, etc.0 -

That still doesn't tell us how many the contract was for. And how far away from the final product is a "preview"? Could these previews amount to 60 of the photos you thought you were buying?kellymadgwick said:well 60 were just the previews!!0 -

Professional cameras write the photos to two memory cards to avoid this problem and any photographer worth their salt 1) will be using a professional camera and 2) will remove and separate the two cards at the end of the day.cx6 said:It COULD be that the photographer has technical problems eg a corrupt memory card in the camera. Given they've had 60 previews it doesn't appear as if its gone wrong straight away in which case again all the files should have immediately been put onto a local and remote storage facility... software like Lightroom will do this automatically for them on import.0 -
If she has a social media online presence then post on there asking for you pictures & just why is it taking so long.
Might also be worth a personal visit, given you know the address.Life in the slow lane0 -
the contract wasn’t for a set amount but we paid for a certain number of hours on each section of our day. But it was confirmed that more would be coming.Even if the photos were lost it would be common decency to let us know.0

That's unusual, normally its a combination of time, minimum number of edited photos and any printed photos/books etc... though the later is sometimes an upsell later after your excited by the photos.kellymadgwick said:the contract wasn’t for a set amount but we paid for a certain number of hours on each section of our day.0 -

That may put a different complexion on it. It seems you haven't paid for photographs, you've paid for photography. Now of course accept that photos are an inevitable product of photography, but what exactly was specified for what you paid?kellymadgwick said:the contract wasn’t for a set amount but we paid for a certain number of hours on each section of our day.
