Package holiday issue - advice required

Hello all. To keep things brief, we booked a 'package holiday' (flights and accommodation) to go to New York this June. The hotel included in the package announced recently that it is being refurbished until August and will be closed for our holiday dates. We have called our provider and they refuse to provide alternative accomodation as they say they have not been told the accommodation has been cancelled. Just looking for advice for you knowledgeable lot. I've googled and have some ideas, but not sure what route to go down seeing as we have 14 weeks to resolve this. Thanks.

Speak to the provider again and ask if you can change hotels, even if you have to pay a fee for the change, or wait until the hotel informs the provider and they then have to offer alternative accommodation or cancel your booking. You could also get back onto the hotel and ask them if they will contact your provider and inform them that they will be closed for the dates you are supposed to be there. If they agree, ask them to copy you into the email so your provider can't continue to claim they know nothing about the closure.
