Smart meters

Hi
I’ve contacted my  energy supplier about a smart meter- both gas and electricity are with them. They are saying they can’t supply me with a smart meter as I have dual energy with them. Yet their website is saying that they can. Any advice on why this is and what can be done please?

The two meters have to be paired. Only the electricity meter communicated with the outside world. The gas meter just talks to the electricty meter.

Someone in CS doesn’t know what he/she is talking about. It is a lot easier for a supplier that supplies you with gas and electricity to arrange for a one visit installation to change both your meters.

When I was with Eon the same fitter did Gas and Electric the same morning

Go back to your supplier and hope you get someone who knows what they are talking about.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

I would have thought that any supplier would be eager to supply a customer with smart meters. After all they have targets to meet.
Someone please tell me what money is

I wouldn't have a smart meter if it can be avoided.

Well, I suppose cutting yourself off from more competitive tariffs and not being able to take advantage of import/export might be seen as a wise move.

What benefits the supplier won't benefit the customer.
As personally told by an energy employee.

I'm a recently retired energy employee.

There is such a thing as mutual benefit.

Customers do not benefit the energy suppliers at the moment, they are losing money on pretty much every one of them.

^^^^^^ Bloke I spoke with is a currently employed energy employee.

Yes of course there are mutual benefits, certainly not all of them though.
