Well these machines in Barclays are not ATMs and do not have the functionality to do any form of pin management.Carrot007 said:mab3000 said:They also don’t do certain things that ATM’s can do, like changing the cards PIN numberI have never found a machine that could not do this. My bank, other banks, link machines anything.0 -
I went to a Tesco's ATM last week and took out 30 quid, and it spewed out six fivers! That's something I've never experienced before.Se1Lad said:There’s a Tesco bank ATM near me which issues £5 notes. However if you want more than one £5 note you have to make multiple withdrawals!0 -
I think at one time when the new Santander ATMs were installed they were supposed to do it, but the ghastly touch screens are useless so I have never got far enough in to check for the feature. I can just about manage to get money out of thing.0

I don't think I've ever seen an option to choose your notes, because I would probably have used it, had it been offered.
The only time I've had a fiver from an ATM was one inside a hospital lobby that only gave out fives and tens and had a low withdrawal limit of something like £20 or £25.0 -
I haven't found an ATM that offers you a choice of banknotes for over 30 years now.
I do sometimes get fivers from ATM's. It tends to be in areas with a high student population, although whether that's just a coincidence, or whether the banks think students are more likely to want low denomination notes, I don't know.0 -
As you say, these aren't ATMs but automated tellers. Only higher footfall branches seem to have thrm.mab3000 said:The devices inside Barclays branches are not ATM’s. They are self service counter devices that can withdraw cash up to £2k, cash/cheque deposits, bill payments and bank transfers. And only work with Barclays accounts. They also don’t do certain things that ATM’s can do, like changing the cards PIN number and unblocking the card. Not really sure if other banks have similar devices to choose what notes you would like.
The true ATMs will accept any LINK or other third party cards that Barclays accepts. Those don't.0
