Rocking horse poo8
-
Morning all,
@Nicki_Sue I love the idea of it being like rocking horse poo, that's a great phrase!You sound like you do really well with your gardening - I've yet really to venture into winter stuff/brassicas, but I'll give it a go. PSB is a favourite here, so I think that'll be going in. I'm hoping to get a perennial kale plant (anything that makes life easier!).
I will be glad when the compost has arrived. It is giving me a lot of nonsense in my head at night at the moment - basically, because I'm out of my comfort zone (never having ordered anything in bulk like this before *and* ordering it to the site, which may have other issues - but shouldn't), I'm just not sleeping. Even though I know it's ridiculous to worry about these things! Today I intend to get a seed order in - recommendations for places that sell a wide range of good quality but cheap seed, potentially with heritage/organic credentials welcome!.
Today I have a reasonable amount of work to do, the market research study, need to get to Costco for cat chicken and between 4.30 and 6.30 it's another Octopus turn down. Just had word that my evening class has been cancelled, which helps given the turn down/cooking dinner/cat chicken situation.
The results are in for the last two turn downs (turns down?) and we did well. The one I'd forgotten to opt into but did anyway (and we were counted for), we saved 95p (this was overnight, so cheap rate (7p/kWh) for charging car - and car charged fine outside of the turn down time), and another 20p on the one on Friday (rounded up again as we would have used a tiny amount anyway), where we reduced our usage by 99% - thank you sunshine on our solar panel!
MS things:
* Dinner tonight will be veggie bolognese to use up some open passata. Lunch will involve an Olio roll
* Clicks done
* £2.12 interest paid on Atom a/c, where I had my buffer fund for less than a month - transferred out to new savings home
* YG survey
* PA surveys
* Sent offers to a couple of Ebay watchers - just want the stuff gone really!
Gratitudes:
* Lovely sunshine - Mum has gone out with a friend in London today for the first time since the pandemic, so it's great that they'll be able to enjoy the sunshine
* Work
* A free evening, which is nice as Mr MV is away with work tomorrow evening

I get mine from Kings Seeds who are local to us. They primarily sell seed to commercial growers I believe - so if you look, unless you plan to share with everyone else who has allotments, check the pack size! They do loads of lovely organic seeds. I bought sweet-pea plug plants this month which are excellent quality too (they help pollinators find the beans! I bought mine in January so I might have got lots of bargainous prices.
T&M are also local to us but I would only ever buy seeds and not plugs from them - and a direct comparison showed me they are much more expensive (10 seeds for £2.75 from Kings vs 8 seeds doe £3.95 from T&M without offers on KS - for tomatoes Sungold F1H non-organic)Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Morning all,
Real Seeds look good, although a bit gutted they are out of oca, as we had it in our veg box a few years ago and really liked it (looks like I might just be too late this year as other places are oos too). @Suffolk_lass, I think you can order from Kings Seeds as an individual and get individual sized portions - in any case, I have some packets of theirs from the allotment shop. Unfortunately the shop really only sold one variety of each of the most common things, and I'd like some different stuff, but Kings look to have a wider variety online. Ordering the seeds is my next job after finishing the bit of work I'm in the middle of - it's a priority!
Am dishing out the usual bread and pastries from my Olio collection this morning and awaiting the call from the compost lorry driver to say they are half an hour away (I really hope they call!). Once the compost arrives, spreading that is the plan for the day. Mr MV is away, so mum has invited me for dinner tonight - I'll see how I feel though, as I may just collapse on the sofa with fish and chips (from the freezer) if I've been 'muck spreading' for hours.
MS things:
* Ordered prescription sunglasses yesterday from Costco - £160, which is cheap compared to Boots, where it would have been nearly £300 (I have a very strong prescription). The lady was very good there, so hopefully they will be right.
* Cat chicken bought - price rises of ~£2 here per tray since last month
* Washing line dried
* Clicks done
* PA surveys done
* Free bread from Olio (and pastries - I figure with the allotment exercise, I can afford a couple!)
Gratitudes:
* Sunshine
* Offer of dinner tonight
* Pastries!
Have a good day all!

So Kings won in the end as they had more of what I wanted in stock. Have also just ordered 6 asparagus crowns from the RHS - they have 40% off bare root veg plants (and fruit?) at the moment so it was a good deal (much cheaper than T&M and more choice than Kings.
Still not heard about the compost. Work is complete and I've nearly got rid of all the Olio stuffI might pack some lunch and wander down to the allotment....
