We had the prettiest frost this morning and the central heating had turned itself on to full force! By the time I got into the office there was, as EH mentioned a lovely little flurry but brrr - it was bitter as I got off the train!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Afternoon all,TGIF! I cannot wait to head out to the pub - it's been one of those weeks. Wednesday was particularly dire as I buried three fish and I think there are more to deal with at the weekend. I don't really want to go into details, but it was pretty awful and derailed my morning. In the afternoon I had to get the train to a nearby town to return the window cleaner thing to the library of things.... and then all the trains were cancelled so I ended up on a bus for 45 minutes to get back to the station to then cycle home. Not a good day. I'm usually a pretty positive person, but I was just glad Wednesday was over by the time I went to bed.Yesterday was better, fortunately, although the wool event I went to see in Mum's town was not anywhere near as good as last year, which was a pity (not through the organiser's fault, just the space available in the shopping centre wasn't as big, so a much smaller 'do'). Walked to the station as I met Mr MV at Mum's for dinner, which was lovely.Today has been stressful as I've been trying to dispatch a Cambridge report to the printer (had promised it yesterday) and was getting no response from Cambridge boss who I was waiting on.... very frustrating. She finally responded, but then didn't send something I needed.... have pinched it from elsewhere and to hell with the consequences! Am still ploughing through huge job for main client, which is also quite frustrating and hard-going. As I said, I'll be glad to finish very soon.In other news, we have a call in with UKPN as the voltage at home is right on the upper limit, so there may be a fault. It keeps tripping the earth protection on our EV charger, which is less than ideal.Food-wise, everything is on course. I've already set the rice in the IP to be ready for when we get back and the defrosting dal is in the saucepan, rtg. Baked two loaves this morning. We're out for an expensive meal tomorrow for Mr MV's birthday, so no cooking then.MS things:
* Sticking to meal plan
* Sains sent me some paper vouchers which I cannily combined with smartshop discounts on a few bits yesterday - and claimed a free pack of biscuits too.
* Mr MV brought home two leftover bakery jam doughnuts from the office yesterday, so they were today's delicious elevensesMovement:
* Lots of walking yesterday - 7km
* A good cycle on Wednesday
* A 20-min arm workout this afternoon - I doubt I'll be able to move tomorrow!
* Planning on walking to the pub, which will improve dismal steps so far todayGratitudes:
* Lovely dinner at Mum's last night
* Nice chat with people at the library of things
* Support from and chat with Cambridge colleaguesHave a good evening all!

Hope things are better next week, and that you have a lovely evening.
There is nothing quite like a glorious jam doughnut. v envious.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Oh Vix - what an inglorious Wednesday you have had! I hope things get better for you this weekend and into next week. Enjoy your evening out and tomorrow's posh meal. xx4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Urgh, what a palaver of a day! Hope the weekend is good to you x4

Thanks all. @redofromstart there is indeed nothing like one of these jam doughnuts - they are from a local bakery chain and have always been mine favourite, so it was a real treat!Mr MV has done some more 'ponding' this morning - we know from experience that you don't want to leave rotting fish in the pond for the sake of the remaining fish. There are some survivors currently, so hopefully they make it.I have been in decluttering and tidying mode this morning and the cupboard under the stairs and the hall cabinet are both looking much better for it and lots of bits posted on Freegle. Trying to reclaim space as our self-proclaimed minimalism seems to have slipped a bit in the past couple of years (mainly because 'this could be useful').Planning on a chilled afternoon before we head out later. Looking forward to seeing our friends this evening!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Afternoon all,I am pleased to announce that I have finally completed the big project for main client. It was difficult and I'm very glad to see the back of it! I worked some of Sunday, a very long day yesterday and was at my desk at 6.30 this morning, so I fully intend to do no more this afternoon (possibly a little bit of Cambridge as I've neglected them).Had a lovely meal on Saturday night with our friends - not a cheap one, but it was so nice to have a good catch up and the food - apart from dessert, which we all agreed was not the strong point - was excellent. Sunday Sis invited us for Sunday lunch, which was lovely, and we played some games afterwards. A very chilled day (apart from the morning's work). Dinner last night did involve chips from the chippy (to go with a bean burger), but as both Mr MV and I were working (and I had an hour's allotment meeting to go to), it seemed sensible. Tonight's dinner may well be masala carrots, as that's pretty much all we've got left from our R'ford order of two weeks ago. I've got small order coming Thursday - mostly fruit. We're out quite a bit over the next week and then off to Germany at the end of next week, so I opted not to get a full veg box. We're out tomorrow for lunch and dinner as it's Mr MV's birthday and we're off to London. In good news, most of dinner will be covered with Mr MV's platinum card dining credit, as will cocktails at the OXO tower. We must renew our railcard tonight though before we buy train tickets!Right, I'm going to head out now - need a walk, a post box and to pick up my prescription while it's still daylight. At some point I really must consider Christmas, but I think it can wait until Mr MV's birthday is over.Have a good afternoon/evening all!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Any stray clubcard vouchers kicking about you can convert towards the railcard renewal? That's about the only really useful thing I can ever find for mine, now!

No stray club card vouchers EH, but I’ll get 20% off with that code from the train pal survey, so that’s something.
Swanky only on the basis of ‘free’, but more exciting than that is the subterranean adventure we’re going on beforehand! I’m very much looking forward to it!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
