DVLA delay
I sent my driving license to the DVLA 6 months ago to change my name and still don’t have it back.
This has delayed my Motability car application massively of which I’d already ordered but the dealership have had to put the car out for general sale.
I’ve been told that I may have to wait until July till I get my car due the shortages at the moment.
Does anyone know who I can complain to because my complaint to the DVLA hasn’t even warranted a reply.

How have you made the complaint to the DVLA, presumably you rang them to query the delay. What was the response to you asking why it was taking so long?
I ask because my son sent of a change of ownership to get a new V5. He rang them after 10 weeks to be told there were severe delays due to covid but then when he rang again after another 8 weeks he was told that they must not have ever received it. Took nearly 8 months to get the document.
On the other hand I applied for a new driving license in January due to address changes and that took just over a week to come back so no delay there.1 -
Thanks for this info.I have tried countless times to call them and I get a recorded voice telling me that they are busy and to call back.I did manage to speak to someone after a month but they basically told I just have to wait.My complaint was sent in an email0

Are you sure the message says you need to call back? Son in law spoke to them today just after 3pm and got through in just a few mins.
Does it not say something on the lines of we are busy/have long waiting times so it may be better to call back later but still givesg you the chance to hold in a queue?0 -
No, there’s not an option to wait in the queue. This is the number I’m calling- 0300 790 6801
if you get the chance could you please ask your son in law which number he rang0 -
Have you tried phoning as soon as lines open so you are are at the front of the queue., rather than phoning during the day when lines are busier?

Phone up as soon as the lines open in the morning.
Take it up with your local MP and explain to them the issue0 -
It’s mad blaming it on covid.
I had to renew my licence last August, went to post office they took picture, form and old license.
I signed the digital pad and paid.
Counter staff said as soon as i press the send button it’s in their system.
6 working days later it was back.0 -

A straightforward renewal is different to a change of name.0
