Smart meter issues

I will keep an eye on both readings for the next few days and see if the usage is the same on both
Thanks all for the help and advice it is very much appreciated0 -
Suppliers shouldn’t be offering to replace SMETS1 meters that are connected to the DCC Network. My understanding is that it can result in a fine and the new meter doesn’t count towards rollout targets. As each smart meter has 4 separate registers, I agree that the most likely explanation is an index reading mistake. The total index reading is the sum of all the registers and this is where the confusion arises.allison445 said:

I think by saying the meter is faulty this was there way of getting around this the meter has an R01 and R02 reading when adding both together you get the reading I was giving by pressing 9 on the meter which was what British Gas told me to do and what the engineer who visited my home did if they don't know how the meters work how is the consumer suppose to know I had no idea pressing 6 would bring up a register with more than 1 reading feeling rather thick now,[Deleted User] said:

Don't feel thick. It is normal practice in the energy industry to tell nobody about anything new. I worked as a meter reader for a number of years and we generally found out stuff either by trial and error or serendipity. I found out how to read a Liberty meter, properly, when I went to read a conventional meter that was in the middle being exchanged for a smart one. For years, we'd all been reading the Total Imp figure on BG L&G meters until an edict went out to read R1 because of the discrepencies on meters that had been in the "free leccy Sundays" scheme (not that it was explained that was the reason - just told to read R1). It's amazing anything works, really.Oh, and if you have aLiberty gas meter, press 9 to get the Cubic Metre reading, otherwise it will show kWh, which they don't use for billing purposes.1
