The only MBNA card worth keeping is the Horizon afaik. The operation is now just a division of Lloyds Bank so not likely to be that great in terms of customer service or perks.0

Doesn't seem like OP has any plans to cancel their MBNA Visa. There are reasons to continue holding a card beyond cashback and rewards.

HSBC Rewards, if you don't mind that the card can only be paid off either by direct debit from your Nationwide or manually from HSBC current account. You cannot use a debit card from other banks to pay it off.
Alternatively, any Sainsbury's credit card, but I have no idea if their app is any good. And you need to have a Nectar card before you can apply for their credit card.
Btw, does it have to be a Mastercard? Would you consider American Express?

OK ... to clarify I have an MBNA Visa credit card, which it would seem is part of the Lloyds group. I am happy with that. All I need in an additional credit card to give me the resilience I want is for it to be Mastercard, to be issued by a provider which is not connected in any way with the Lloyds group, for it to have a usable Android app and for it not to cost me a monthly fee. Any "rewards" are of little if any interest, as is the Amazon/NewDay card.
The Barclaycard Avios one's certainly a contender, but it now looks like one of Sainsbury's might be suitable. I can't find any more alternatives, so that seems to be my choice.

Well, I think it's pretty uncommon, that's why I closed my HSBC card. It was the only of my 7 credit cards that didn't allow me to pay with debit card from another bank. Okay, maybe with Nationwide it's a bit complicated, but it's still possible, as far as I know. HSBC is also the only bank who wanted to hard-search me for credit limit increase. No other bank does that, or at least none of the banks I have cards with.
