We have cream units with a pale wood worktop (beech imitation wood) and our walls are painted with a strong orange colour (more towards a burnt orange than a citrus orange) and terracotta effect tiles on the floor. I still wish we had gone with proper terracotta tiles but they were very expensive and I didn't know how they would work with ufh.  I do wish we had gone with darker colour grouting as the sandstone colour doesn't stay that colour for long!

I know you aren't having tiling but we have smallish square tumbled travertine tiles and a few feature patterned tiles from Fired Earth (they have a sort of mexican look) and we chose the wall colour to complement these.  It has a soft sheen finish and looks lovely.  This was done 18 years ago and I still love it lol!
  • Oh my gosh! It’s like information overload. Will take on board with the
kitchen layout. What about these tiles..

Another one agreeing with Doozergirl, that sink/unit placement is wrong.

You have waited a long time for a kitchen so be happy with it as it's going to be there for a long time. I would not make any dramatic choices with colour in terms of tiles and worktops because you may find yourself fed up and wanting an expensive change. I would stay pretty neutral with flooring and worktops then add colour on the walls so you can update without breaking the bank.

I have moved into a house with a gorgeous kitchen but the worktops are dark and the wall tiles and windowsill are in shiny black and silver tiles which I hate. I actually spoke to the grand daughter of the lady who used to own the house and she was asking how I was settling  in and I mentioned that I wanted to change the tiles. She said her gran paid a fortune for them and knew within a couple of months it was a costly mistake.

Please dont go down the grey route either, its so dated now.

My 2p worth: North facing and not masses of windows, so go for pale colours to maximise the light.

I simply hate black sinks. They are so in fashion this year, but surely they are going to go the way of avocado bathrooms in a couple of years? Plus, there are lots of posts on here with problems over composite sinks. You never hear about problems with stainless steel.

Haha! When I moved into this house, it actually had an avocado green bathroom suite 🤮
  • Will catch-up on all posts, but in the meantime I would go for something a little bolder in terms of flooring . Orange , terracotta , or coffe perhaps . To me those colours would go with  the worktops and white/ off white walls imho.

As my kitchen has no windows, I have lime green vinyl flooring and gloss white cabinets .
The grey and white part tiled walls match also . That may be too much for most 😬
  • Thank you @Doozergirl and others for your comments…I have sent my kitchen designer a long list 😬 of all the niggling bits that’s been mentioned, such as the sink and tap as well as the under sink cupboard. Hopefully he’ll come back with a better design so I’ll post it to see what you think!

Does anyone have a good eye as to what colour this floor tile is…I really like it but no mention of the colour or supplier (typical) not sure if it looks white or a light grey? 😩😩😩

Yes, lots of ideas - I have my heart set on a cream kitchen. I’ve already chosen an oak effect laminate which will go well with the kitchen. I’ve changed to door handles and sink. I did like the Belfast sink but DH wouldn’t budge. Still undecided on the floor - it does need to be tile. Any suggestions?
  • I’ve also chosen my splashback which I absolutely love…what do you think? I’ve had this saved on my phone for years and thankfully they still do it! It’ll be a little smaller but you get the gist of it ❤️❤️❤️
