Has anyone handed back their leased vehicle having missed the service? If so, what was missed service fee charged by the finance company?

Sure, it probably is but just wanted to get a ballpark. My car was due to go back before the first service but due to delays in the new car I have had to extend my current one for 3 months which means service will be due. I just wanted to the maths of whether I fork out over £300 for a service on a car I will be letting go in 3 months.

So, why not read the agreement and get the right answer rather than asking for unqualified opinions?

I have read the T&Cs and there is nothing of £ costs, I have read the BVRLA guidelines there is nothing there either, I have called the finance company and they are not willing to advise of specific costs.... this forum.

Just checked my documents, regarding services it says that vehicles must be serviced as per the manufacturer schedule. No mention of what happens if it is not. It could be seen as a breach of contract. Personally I would just bite the bullet and get it serviced.

You certainly need to read your agreement as Googling finds some marques charging in excess of £1K for a missed service as it is something that will affect the residual value and cannot be undone like a scratch or scuff.

The penalty you pay could be anything up to the difference in value between a car that has a full service history and a car that hasn’t.

    Just get it serviced !!!!!!.

Ouch - think I will have to bit the bullet then! Thanks
  • My former colleague had a VW Passat estate 4 motion and was charged over £1000.

i'd just get it serviced.  Feels like you're rolling a dice there for at best a few pounds saving but more likley hundreds of pounds of extra charges.
