Ending Talk Talk contract

Options
My Mum has been with Talk Talk broadband/phone  for a number of years. She had a stroke several months ago and is now in a nursing home, I’m in the process of winding things up & selling her house, dealing with them has been a nightmare. I have just received enduring power of attorney to manage her finances. I am not prepared to send them the EPA document, I have no confidence I would ever see it again and I don’t feel inclined to see a solicitor to make “certified copies”. If I just stop the direct debit, what is the worst they can do? I’m not concerned about her credit rating suffering.
Many thanks.

I think you mean an LPA.  Only EPAs made and signed before October 1, 2007 can still be used. After that date donors had to make a lasting power of attorney (LPA) - https://www.gov.uk/enduring-power-attorney-duties

That aside, who says you have to go to a solicitor for a certified copy of something?

My local Nationwide building society branch certified my EPA [it was EPA BTW], just a case of them copy it and stamping as Certified copy, normally in red to prevent further copying & passing off

If you just stop the DD TalkTalk will apply non-payment charges of £12 per month, then they will disconnect the service while continuing to apply charges including the non-payment charges. In due course they will decide it is time to sell the debt on to a debt collector who will start to pursue your mother for the now very substantial debt. TalkTalk process for taking control as an Attorney is described here. It doesn't look as if the copy of the EPA which you send them has to be certified.
