Advice please MIL has....

We once part exchanged our car at a garage (not back street, quite a reputable one). They said they'd fill in the log book. Forward to several months later and I got the police knocking at my door. Our old car had been found burned out at the side of a road. I told the police what had happened when we sold the car and we never heard anything more, despite our details still linked to the old car. As the car was about 10 years old we think the garage had sold it onto an auction, as the garage didn't sell cars that old. It was obvious the garage hadn't filled in the log.

This was a few years ago though.

I was just trying to stop someone wasting their time and give them the answer they were after.

You can get a human response to other questions eg about logbooks but LEGALLY a notification of disposal has to be written and posted/faxed.

I never once mentioned DVLA were perfect - no one is, that includes you.
