Lidl prices displayed not matching charge at till

At Bangor (Gwynedd) Lidl a few months ago I was charged 59p for Lidl bacon rashers (snack item) which were priced at 55p on the shelf. I raised this with the cashier and was refunded in cash have started taking note of what I am being charged. When the same thing happened again on my next shop I started paying more attention to what I was being charged for items at the till .and I was consistently being overcharged at the till for one or two things in my basket compare to the shelf displayed price. I became known to a couple of the cashiers for picking up on these overchargings and they also assured me it would be dealt with. It has not been so today when it happened again with a bag of prawns I decided I would make others aware in case this is happening in other Lidls. I will now seek refunds via credit card (as I pay) and post the receipt evidence on here. After gathering enough evidence to show widespread overcharging I will contact head office.

To be fair I've found this in almost every food retailer at times which is why I and many others alwyas check till receipts before leaving the shopOnce upon a time in a land far far way Asda gave full refund plus two quid loaded onto one of their cards, no longer done but it was a steady shopping bonus for manyMorrison's was renown for having shelf labels mixed up and confusing, maybe still is but I no longer shop there so don't know nowI don't think incorrect pricing is policy, just sloppiness and poor serviceEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens5

I think Lidl is better than most but always check the receipt anyway.
On the rare occasion that there's an error I notice that Lidl seem happy to refund in cash even if you've paid by card1 -

Anyone shopping at Bangor Lidl should be vigilant on prices, especially with a big shop.

Yes I was behind a chap in Lidl before Christmas when he was buying a couple of bags of sprouts and the till showed them being priced at £19.99 each! Obviously an error!! And dealt with by the cashier with good humour which is always nice.
Unlike at the local mega Tescos where once when we were buying a lasagne and the price came up as double what the ticket said it would be. Everyone started to imply we were trying it on and had swapped the tickets to get a bargain. Have had similar treatment with Sainsburys a few times.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. I agree OP. I have all the main supermarkets by me, and although I like Lidl, I have found that - at least in my local store - they are the worst for incorrect shelf labelling. You would hope that all store managers right now would want to have a very tight grip on correct price labels given how many price rises there have been. Three examples over the last 6 months or so where I've been charged more than the label are: sardines in tomato sauce, cheese thin crackers and peanut chocolate bars. There were other examples too but I can't remember what they were now, I just remember querying it at the till. A separate problem is where they've put the label for a very similar, but different product next to another product. That problem isn't as bad as I scrutinise every label to check it matches and not assume it's correct.1

I must of dropped lucky last week Farway , I brought some yogurts and I was overcharged in A*da , I didn't realize this until I looked at my receipt when I got home, so I took a picture of the yogurts and I took the receipt back and sure enough the lady kindly gave me £2 on a gift card and the money back, I think she was the Manageress so maybe it depends on who you get?3 -

I thought this kind of thing was illegal ?
The way prices are rising, maybe shelf label should be digital.
In French supermarkets, I have seen barcode checkers. You wave the barcode under the scanner and it gives you the till price.0 -

But Trading Standards people might be interested about misleading representation.
I think Tescos had barcode checkers at one time.1 -

In France the penalties for displaying incorrect prices are far higher, so the high cost of digital shelf labels (and providing confirmation of the price through barcode checkers) make good business sense. In the UK, the penalties are much lower, so it is usually cheaper for retailers to pay the occasional fine rather than investing in systems.7
