At the end of the day why order valuable items if your not going to be there to sign for delivery?

    It doesnt make sense

Some people will moan if the drivers dont leave them somewere and others if they do

Its really a no win for the drivers

If its the valuable or important to you pay extra for guarenteed delivery when your in or choose delivery to a location were your guarenteed someone will be in

    What a stupid post!

How am i suppose to know when Tesco will send my goods, and know who they will send them with!

If i am not in because i'm in work they are suppose to leave a card and say when i can come and pick it up.

And i paid for guarenteed delivery its not my fault the drive left it where he did.

But you are so perfect that you just sit in the house all day waiting for the parcel to come. I on the other hand and i asume most people have better things to do in our time.

    No I dont

But if im buying things I know when its coming or pay the extra to get a specific slot that suits me

If it isnt I get it delivered elsewere

and not all courier companies offer collection

At the end of the day you asked for it to be delivered and werent in

They made a decision based on their experience etc, they cant please everyone and some people would have been !!!!ed off if they hadnt left the goods

So why not leave it with a neighbour like Parcelforce did today? Because they were too lazy to do so.

You can't always do that anyway with companies.

Amazon use HDN and you don't actually know the date it will be delivered, you just get told they have dispatched it to HDN's service.

They should knock on next door if they don't want to return like other services do.

I order quite a lot off the net so I would be taking days off constantly. The same could be said for the posties but they leave you a card and you ick it up yourself. However, I knew I wouldn't be in, but if I was given an option to state "leave it at the depo and save the posties back" I would.

Tesco will investigate it for you and then contact you back. I used to have to resolve compkaints with City Link like that years ago and they like to check all the docs first and interview the driver to make sure you are not conning them. Just keep on their backs.

  • Most companies make enquiries with the delivery company first as people do play the system and say they havent had any items left when they have. They are just ensuring the claim is genuine. Tescos will submit a claim with HDN so will be required to do certain checks as parts of the terms.

I agree couriers cant win though, people moan about them being left and other moan they had to go x amount of miles to the depot. Leaving with a neighbour is good as long as they are home and not out as well.

the problem is its busier and margins are getting tighter.
amazon, tesco use HDN because they are cheap.
    pure and simple.
most of these companys use owner/drivers who get paid per parcel delivered.

as said its a hard one to judge.
at work i get people moaning packets have/have not been left with neighbours
have/have not been left in X place

we even get people coming in for packets when they got a card delivered saying packet left in X place.
best one was the guy who brought a card in which only said "packet under mat"
