googler said:We got a Canon MG3650S from Argos to replace our old MG4250 for £40. We travelled 30 miles to the nearest Argos that had them, because we wanted to stick with front loading, and local stores only had top loaders. I think the front-loading Canons might be end-of-range clearances now.
Uses PG540 and CL541 cartridges, same as the old one, seems to be built on the same chassis with slight cosmetic differences, but otherwise it's ticking over nicely

Thanks for that, funnily enjough I had thought about that as I wont have to learn anything new (!) but they are now discontinued and Argos don't have any for home delivery to me, my son would have to travel over 50 miles to pick one up. There are some on Amazon more expensive than Argos but would work out cheaper when you factor in cost of fuel to pick up from Argos. Still considering whether to go for that or the HP suggested by Tallmansix which would be about £25+ more expensive.

Can you combine the Argos trip with a day out?
We went to a tourist attraction close to the store that we had been meaning to visit for some time, took along snacks, and had a picnic in the car park of the attraction after picking up the printer on a click 'n' collect ....0 -

Don't have days out any more (pensioner) and I have to rely on my son and he works 6 days a week, so I wouldn't ask him to do it. But I considered what seemed to be very few options and decided to pay the extra to get one from Amazon - the MG3650S - easy option as I know how to use it. It should arrive today and hopefully my son, who is about as computer literate as mewill be able to install it. The "computer man" who did everything for me has now retired, and I have enough trouble renewing my internet security so I have little chance of uninstalling and then installing a pringer
Thanks so much for your input, it's really appreciated.1 -
If you decide to buy another Canon printer, don't buy from Amazon or Argos. Buy direct from Canon UK, because they are cheaper and offer free delivery in 3 - 5 working days.1

I use my printer for very similar reasons and mine is a Samsung M2020, front loading and excellent print quality, I think it was around £90 when I purchased it a couple of years ago, unsure if it's still available or whether there is a more up to date model.

You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time1 -

The MG3650S is a discontinued model and wasn't available when I looked on the Canon site. Very few sellers have it but I managed to track one down.
