EDF Bill error help
My Mum's electricity bill seems to have a glaring error, but we have been in touch with 3 EDF customer service people (2 email, 1 phone) who say there is nothing wrong with the bill. Have I missed something obvious, or is the reading for Jan 4th clearly wrong in the bill (attached)?
Thanks

Agreed, that is wrong, I'd try again with CS and see if you can get them to understand.

Yes. Their meter reader has transposed a 2 and a 1.However, if a meter reader enters a figure that is outside a certain tolerance their machine demands the reading to be re-entered, with additional information if really wildly out. This suggests that, possibly, the figure entered was within EDF's estimated usage but your actual usage is somewhat higher.I think you should ask for them to do another reading, or at least send them a dated photo of the reading now, so that they can adjust their usage profile.0

It doesn't seem correct to me

Definitely wrong.Your total consumption for the 2 periods combined should be 715 Kwh (12,972-12,257) and not 1381 (340+1,041) as indicated on the bill.Quite elementary so don't know how EDF can't understand that? The "previous reading" for period starting 4 January is completely wrong and should of course be 12,5971

The "previous reading" for period starting 4 January is completely wrong and should of course be 12,597Sort of, but a meter readers figure will "trump" a customer read. But they have still clearly made an error.

The latest read at 3 January 2022 is also stated as "our read" so the meter reader must be trumping themselves!

Is it an old meter with dials instead of digits? The type of error looks rather like that as adjacent dials go in opposite directions, which is a bit counter-intuitive.

I think the OED will be changing the definition of incompetent in their next edition to a simple 3 letters, EDFOP, you need to raise a formal complaint as at that level things often go in front of someone with at least a small amount of common sense.0

The meter is a British Gas smart meter, but it doesn't work with EDF. My Mum did have a meter reader come out late last year maybe early Nov, but no-one came in Jan or Feb this year. I think the Jan 3/4 readings are actually estimates. The last reading is my Mums, she took a photo of the meter and sent it to EDF at their request (she emailed to say that the previous bill was wrong, they asked her to take a pic of the meter which she did. They then sent a new bill with an updated final reading, but did nothing to fix the Jan 3 reading).
