Council £150 after house move

Hi,
I'm due to move house in April, where I'm going already has a council tax account and will be in a higher band (living with parents)
When I leave my apartment in March, will I lose the ability to get the £150 energy refund credit this year as my direct debit may be stopped?
Should I wait until May maybe and then retrospectively tell them I've moved and claim a council tax refund as well?

Council tax and energy are mentioned in the same post.
I think you just mean council tax and energy is a typo.
Clarify pleasemake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

yes absolutely unfortunately i cant post links on forum - its a refund via the council tax route, not specifically a council tax refund. Aimed to support the increase in energy prices etc.0

If you are moving into your parents house you won't be responsible for energy costs so leave it for the people that are responsible for the council tax on old property as at 1st April 2022"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "1

(April 2022 to March 2023)Your eligibility will depend on whether you are moving in April or March - you mention both in your post.If you are moving out of the property in March (end of tenancy/sale?) you'll need to inform the council tax office promptly. Pretending to be resident in a property to enable yourself to get a rebate payment you aren't entitled to may cost you more than the rebate is worth.2 -

There are measures in place for people that fall outside of council tax bands A to D who will experience hardship as a result of the energy bill hikes (e.g. are on low income). You may be eligible for this but I’m assuming you may have to prove hardship… this option may be worth exploring. I really don’t think it is worth putting off moving if this is the case! But just make sure you’ll be able to afford your bills & mortgage payments.

In Scotland you need to be resident on 14 Feb to be eligible to receive the £150 energy payment
I am assuming a similar date will be applicable in England as well

To add on the energy part (since OP mentions this briefly, possibly in error) - I believe there is a situation where you get the energy "loan" now, and have to pay it back over a couple of years.
As I understand, if you live with parents now, and moved to your own place in a years time, you would indeed not get the loan, but have to pay it back anyway. Maybe others can clarify?Peter
