Contacting British Gas

I've had very poor experiences trying to contact BGas.
Texts and emails have been blocked, though on the phone I was told I would be able to do this (eg for meter readings).
So the only time there has been any communication has been by phone. But this requires waits of over 40 minutes, and the majority of what they say is not put into action.

I've just seen a post where someone has communicated by text/email saying that using the phone was impossible (IIRC).
Can someone tell me how you can contact them by text/email without being blocked.

Albeit in the wrong section, I recently needed to contact BG and did so very quickly using the "Chat" section of their web site.

Same for me, although the first time I tried it kept saying there was no one available. The second time around I got through quite quickly and they resolved my query straight away.
