Biomass

Hello,

Our house currently relies on a couple of storage heaters and a large log burner, we are hoping to have a heating system installed in the next few months. We already got quotes for oil (we have no gas here and heat pumps are unsuitable) but I've got a few companies coming in to quote for biomass in the next few weeks. Whilst I wait, and I have absolutely no idea what to expect price wise, has anyone recently had a full install quote? Boiler, Radiators, pipework, tank etc.

    ... heat pumps are unsuitable...
Because?  A heat pump is really just another sort of "boiler" and if oil heating is feasible then a heat pump is probably feasible too.

I don't want a heat pump, it's unsuitable. I've been told this by several companies who install both heat pumps and biomass. I'm asking about biomass.

Any information from anyone about biomass installations would be appreciated :)

Do you have space for storing the fuel ?
From what I've seen of most biomass systems, a building the size of a typical garage is needed. It needs to be dry and easily accessible so that the lorry can get close enough to unload - Small quantities can be delivered bagged & on pallets, but for enough to last all winter, it will often be a large HGV "pumping" chips/pellets straight into a silo.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

Really helpful.. Radiators also included? We have a 3 bed house also. It's a bit odd shaped though as it's an old village school.

Loads of room for storing the pellets.

We have a 3 bed cottage and installed a biomass pellet stove boiler & rads last year. We were quoted 4.5k for the rads/pipework so did that ourselves. We paid 12k for the boiler, thermal store and all the other gubbins. We currently store pellets in the conservatory but will build a store this summer.

Love this idea and it's something I looked into just yesterday after seeing it on a Facebook group however we are hoping to make use of the government grant coming in April and not sure these are covered? I would have to look into it but there are some seriously impressive ones out there and it's definitely another option for us and they also look fantastic.

This is a Klover smart 80 and is RHI complaint, we qualified under the old scheme and receive payments quarterly for 7 years.
We chose this because there was an ancient cream Rayburn Royale in that spot.

I really do love the concept of these. Out of curiosity and I don't know if you can actually say but was it a local company or nationwide who installed it? We are in the North East and I have struggled a little bit to find someone or maybe I am looking in the wrong place!
