Additional Card Holder Access

I quite accept that there are no joint credit cards in the UK. However, from what I have read over the years I think these are common in some countries, such as the USA. Does anyone know (as opposed to speculating or ranting!) why there is this difference? I assume it is something to do with law/regulations, but I would like to know for sure.NoodleDoodleMan said:As above, there is no "our" account. It's a relatively common fallacy that there are joint credit card accounts.0 -
If your wife just wants to view the transactions, could you set up something like Emma or one of the other money management apps with the card details (probably your details, so she can see all the transactions)?
It's a bit of a bodge (and you'll need to renew the connection every 3 months) but may work for your purposes.
And it may not work if you need to also have the main app on the device.0 -
Yes but that's not what I said. I said the OP's partner could use online banking to check spending if they are effectively treating it as a joint account, even if it isn'tborn_again said:
The issue is it is NOT her account. So no bank should be showing any customer accounts held by another party. Other than joint accounts.Deleted_User said:Do they not have online banking as well that you could track?
Have you not rung them up and asked how other people deal with this?
I guess they assume if you are giving the additional card holder access to the card then you will control the spending and trust them not to overspend0 -

For view only, as mentioned you could use an open banking service such as Money Dashboard where your wife can have an account and link to her accounts and you can authorise access to view the credit card transactions as well.0

That then means the are accessing accounts that they has no right too, as well as a breech of T/C if using other parties sign on.Deleted_User said:

Some would view it as Financial abuse monitoring a account you have no right too.
Perhaps the OP could ensure that there is always enough available balance in the account. Might mean the parties have to talk to each other if planning on spending a large amount though.Life in the slow lane0 -
Let's be honest, a married couple who are trusting to issue a second card so the other can spend on it, is not some massive fraud situation or abuse, it's a workaroundborn_again said:

There is no web access to VM CC, app only. Are you certain you have it on 2 devices, when I tried it warned me that it was only accessible on one device and I needed to disable the other device before proceeding.MEM62 said:

The alterative is to logon to the website and check that way.

Joint credit cards are not common in USA. The highest profile consumer card I can think of that does offer that capability is the Apple Card issued by Goldman Sachs.0

Were you logged onto the app on your own device at the time? Is it possible that you can have the app on more than one device as long as only one of you is using it at any one time? ie "disable" means "logout" rather than "uninstall"?molerat said:
