We get loads of this stuff, one is made to look like a newspaper but it's from a window company and then tucked inside that are always all kinds of other junk, leaflets etc, all delivered by the Royal Mail postman, unaddressed. So, I save them up until I have a good pile and then go and put them all back in the post box at the end of the street. They aren't mine, they aren't addressed to me, so Royal Mail can have them back and they can recycle them themselves. It's no waste of my time, I walk past the post box every day so it makes no difference to me. If they don't want their time wasting sorting through junk mail they shouldn't bombard households with it in the first place to make money. No other company is allowed to do that.Grumpy_chap said:CurlySue2017 said:So, I save them up until I have a good pile and then go and put them all back in the post box at the end of the street. If it is considered litter, they shouldn't be pushing it through my letterbox at allThe whole world is trying to reduce waste and who even takes any notice of leaflets anymore anyway? I understand that the post persons have a duty to deliver the items, but this way of advertising is so outdated and needs to be changed
But you are wasting someones time who has to sort through the litter in the post box and try not to throw away any of the properly stamped addressed mail. It is only litter as you are putting it in there, before it is delivered it is leaflets, magazines, and other information that may or may not be of interest. You are the one deciding it is litter as you choose not to keep it.
If you were returning to sender then mark it as such.
And anyone can go and put a flier through your letter box, my local turkish restaurant pushed a menu through yesterday.1 -
How hard an it be? Put them back in the post boxes, really! Why make such a massive issue about something you can sort easily yourself. It would appear that you are making a bigger issue of this than I am to be honestI do sort it myself - It doesn't bother me one bit dropping them back into the post box because I pass it every day anyway, it really isn't an issueI was simply saying what I personally do with this type of mail, not asking for approval0

And the comments about this talk (rightly) about your inconsideration, poor method and annoying practice. Whether you agree or not you are making a mountain out of a molehill and there is a simple, reasonably effective, solution.
You don't want the material but you won't opt out which would deal with most of it and wish to cause aggravation to your postman. I don't like junk mail but I do like our postie who does an excellent job. I have opted out and get very little.4 -

Some people may want to receive it. Why should they be deprived of it because you don't want it.1 -

If it comes with a pre paid envelope like funeral plans etc I return it and ask to be removed from their mailing list.
Otherwise put in recycling bin2
