The sign on my letterbox says 'Royal Mail Only'.

Works.

personally I don't see an issue with the junk coming through the door, I pick it up and put it straight in the recycling bin, no effort needed. Got home the other day to a small pile when opening the door, picked it up and binned it straight again certainly didn't think it was worth getting worked up over0

Thanks for all your replies folks. I thought it was a common sense to know what is a junk and what isn't, especially when it comes to unsolicited promotional materials without a name or address on it, for solely just promotional business, not an actual act of response like collection for charities or so.
The majority apparently don't mind to be bothered by a litter pushed through their mailbox, but some quite are, and that includes me. As I described earlier, you won't tolerate a leaflet person on the street pushing leaflets into your bags despite your refusal, but somehow you are fine if they do it at your door step. We, as a society, still have a way to go in consideration of other's personal choices.0 -
I did suffer with getting lots of junk mail. I remember complaining to royal mail on twitter. Apparently the posties are told to ignore the 'no junk mail' signs.
So I saved up the junk mail and gave it gift wrapped to the postie for Christmas. I get next to none now.0 -
