NO JUNK MAIL sticker - nobody respects it - what is it for then?

Or back in the post box. That's what my neighbour does!Torry_Quine said:I really don't know why anyone gets so het up about junk mail. Just stick it in the recycling.3 -
Are you house bound? Because I am not. This advice is not practical in most every day cases. Besides, I have had a leaflet just thrown at the door step. Some are that lazy to push it through.jon81uk said:
You don't have to have a letterbox at all. Postman can knock if they have anything for you.Ena123 said:
But my home is my home. They have no right to litter my letter box with stuff not in my name.0 -
What practical suggestion do you have to stop people pushing items through your letterbox do you have?Ena123 said:

The sign on my letterbox says 'Royal Mail Only'.

personally I don't see an issue with the junk coming through the door, I pick it up and put it straight in the recycling bin, no effort needed. Got home the other day to a small pile when opening the door, picked it up and binned it straight again certainly didn't think it was worth getting worked up over0

Thanks for all your replies folks. I thought it was a common sense to know what is a junk and what isn't, especially when it comes to unsolicited promotional materials without a name or address on it, for solely just promotional business, not an actual act of response like collection for charities or so.
The majority apparently don't mind to be bothered by a litter pushed through their mailbox, but some quite are, and that includes me. As I described earlier, you won't tolerate a leaflet person on the street pushing leaflets into your bags despite your refusal, but somehow you are fine if they do it at your door step. We, as a society, still have a way to go in consideration of other's personal choices.0 -
I did suffer with getting lots of junk mail. I remember complaining to royal mail on twitter. Apparently the posties are told to ignore the 'no junk mail' signs.
So I saved up the junk mail and gave it gift wrapped to the postie for Christmas. I get next to none now.0 -
See, that;s where the problem lies - peoples definitions of junk does vary considerably. Unlike you, I consider the vast majority of those charity collection bags little more than scams (read the small print to see how much - or rather how little - usually goes to the charity), and contributing to the waste plastic problem. Promotional flyers advertising businesses in the local area and the occasional take-away menu, however, do warrant at least a quick glance and are then easily disposed of with the paper recycling if of no use....Ena123 said:Thanks for all your replies folks.
