High Energy usage

I always go downstairs first thing before showering so the meter is always read before the shower. Don't have a hot water tank so it's not that.
I did wonder if next door were somehow connected to ours!1 -
In the evening turn off the main switch and check if the neighbours lights go out. (only slightly tongue in cheek, you never know)0

Although you may not notice if the lights are in the loft!

Try the Meter Sanity Test.

Even at 13 KWh a day - your usage is high for a gas heated property.
My guess - that fridge freezerNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
I plugged a monitor plug into each fridge freezer and it was only coming out at about 300w over night each.Robin9 said:Even at 13 KWh a day - your usage is high for a gas heated property.

The red light is generally for electronic meters. If yours electro-mechanical the look to see if the disc is spinning.

Time to go room by room and monitor everything that's plugged in until you find the culprit.brooklyn07 said:

Not the case. If I plug in a 100W bulb, the monitor will show 100W. If I leave the light on for 6 hours, then that bulb will consume 600Wh of electricity. A freezer may be drawing 300W but the amount of energy used will depend on how long it is drawing electricity. Normally, a freezer will switch on and off to maintain the set temperature but a freezer with a dodgy thermostat might be running continuously. It follows that a freezer drawing 300W which is on from 10pm to 8am would account for 3kWh of the energy used.brooklyn07 said:
