Question:
It's 30th March say.
Key is at the maximum £249
Meter is at £200
If Insert the key, will it top meter to maximum to £249 and leave £200 on key - to top up another £49?

Does it? I topped up £50 yesterday, not used it and topped up another £49, receipt today states £99 credit.Mobtr said:
The key itself will only hold £49 at a time but the meter will hold £249 in totalMarvel1 said:Question:

the £49 or £50 limit is each pay point transaction.
I would assume if the meter was almost full it would only take the bit it needs to reach the limit, but have never got that near the limit sorry!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?1 -
I stand corrected 😀Marvel1 said:

£99 on key, tried £40 just now and won't allow. I wonder if just implemented to stop saving to maximum of £249 in key.Mobtr said:

If Insert the key, will it top meter to maximum to £249 and leave £200 on key - to top up another £49?The meter will only accept credit up to the meter's maximum. In your example (if the meter's maximum is £249) then the meter won't accept the £249 credit on the key until the meter is at £0, it will likely have to be below £0 in reallity as I don't think meters count down in £0.01 increments. The meter won't take some and leave your change on the key - it's very 'dumb' technology.1 -
I have just been on to E-on Next and they told me that if I top up with a large amount I will indeed delay the update but then when I top up after the new rates apply I will then be charged at the new rates and will have to pay for the difference as I will be charged per unit at the new rate of whatever I use.0
