People's Energy to British Gas - price guarantee
I have been reviewing the paperwork British Gas sent my Mum for the forced move from Peoples Energy to British gas.
I notice that in an email sent to her on 28th September with a subject of "Thanks for choosing us. Here's your contract." the prices shown say

Tariff ends on 30th June 2022
Price guaranteed until 30th June 2022
Although this is a variable tariff it looked to me that they were protecting the price and that was the contract.
They have just announced that the rates are changing as from 1st April so on the surface it looks like they are breaking the guarantee that was given in the contract.
Does anyone else see the same information?

BG have done the same to those of us who were SoLR’ed from Neon Reef. Our contracts state that prices are guaranteed till end of July 2022 but our accounts are being prepared for rises from April 1st.
They are claiming it was a typo but no customers were notified of this mistake.1 -
Thanks - good to know its not just my mum .. contract and an excuse of its a typo .. not sure they fit well together0

I am just wondering if anyone has chased this up?I have read reports of people receiving £50 & £100 awards for "miscommunication"&& ''Brian recieved £270 compensation' - https://www.yourmoney.com/household-bills/british-gas-must-pay-compensation-over-price-guarantee-shambles/This was from April 2022As I am in a similar situation and have been going back and forth about this with BG as BG phone agents confirmed I had a guarantee back in October. I have been back and forth with them since mid-March when I received my email stating prices were going up.I am just wondering if anyone has pushed further with this? or come to some form of resolution?Thank you in advance

I got £60 from BG direct thru "Executive Complaints" earlier this year, and I've seen various amounts from £30 up to £100 awarded by BG - some posters were still fighting via the Ombudsman to get better offers, but I haven't seen many success stories published, certainly not in terms of getting BG to honour the original "tariff" end date.
Some posters actually managed to get BG to put them on older ,expired tariffs with end dates further in the future which may have been the best outcome.0 -
I have been awarded £438, British gas has appealed the ombudsman decision so just waiting on that.0

It seems like they're changing stance. Maybe they could no longer deny all the evidence? I recieved no offer of compensation from "Executive Complaints" just a deadlock letter eventually. When I went to the ombudsman they said it could be a while as there are a lot of these types of complaints coming in and they have consulted with ombudsman services in how to respond. So I am just waiting that playing game, I will see what happens with the ombudsman. From what I have read as well BG enjoy waiting till the 11th hour before responding giving little room for manouvere.I have no clue what to expect. Thanks for pointing me to that thread.
