EOn's CEO email address is easily found via Google (other search engines are available).

Maybe you could kindly provide it to save OP having yet another thing to do?
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

I would have thought that you've been here long enough to know that's not permitted, and although it occasionally happens such posts are often deleted. A PM might work.
One thing to point out to the OP (and anyone else) is that E.ON and E.ON Next are run separately, so it's important to make sure that you talk to the correct supplier. I faced this issue after my mum's death and while E.ON Next were quite helpful when I was able to speak to them it can sometimes take a very long time to get an answer when phoning. They don't have a bereavement team themselves, E.ON do and they are who I first called but they told me that the account wasn't with them so they couldn't deal with it.
  • Hi I have just spoken to Eon next, seems some advisors are in need of extra training…..
Mohammed has assured me the refund will be dealt with within 4-6 weeks….
    Thank you for everyone’s advise.

good to hear that they have realised what they are supposed to do - yes they do need some more traning, ridiculous when you have to go through this so many times, should be dealt with sympathetically on the first go

I still praise Severn Trent who not only backdated the bill to the day my mother was admitted to hospital ( a month before her death), they closed the account as said they weren't bothered about the water we were using while clearing the house / cleaning  etc etc

The problem is there’s no will, so no proof that you’re his next of kin. It may be a small amount, but you still have to prove you’re entitled to it.
  • Yup that was a problem that nothing can be done about now,
As for next of kin to prove I was Mums next of kin there where plenty of documents to prove this such as.
the death certificate Mum and I have the same surname and I am named as the informant.
my birth certificate which states Mum as my mother.
the documents form the council housing which stated I am next of kin.
Also I was mums next of kin on all of her work documents. ie her pension and on her personal file in black and white.
there was no husband as Mum and Dad are divorced again with the docs to prove.

Eon have copies of all of these documents but where still being difficult and going round and round in circles asking for the same thing a few days apart. Anyway I spoke to a advisor on Monday who seemed quite helpful and hopefully has resolved this issue. The problem I was having with them was one advisor would tell me one version of their rules and another would tell me a different version.
I could apply to become a administrator but as Eon are the only company to want this would it be worth it when it cost £100plus for a refund of £126? Yup even government organisations don’t need you to do this….
Mum passed suddenly so maybe the advise here is to put a will in place to help in this situation.
Thanks for your response and very valuable advise msb1234.

  • We are experiencing exactly the same problem two years on. Eon Next alone among banks and utilities insisting on Letters of Administration (£175) before they will refund about £200. Any advice gratefully received.

This has been answered on your other post.  Free to obtain letters of administration if the estate is worth less than £5,000.

When my sister died in hospital the £100+  she had lodged in the ward safe was paid to me once I had signed their Disclaimer (ie, if another person with more right to the money than I tried to claim it, then they would have to chase me for the money, not the NHS).

I'd have thought that other institutions would have similar processes in place for such small sums.
