Morning all
Bright and sunny here but very cold, I have stripped the beds and got them on a hot wash, they can be hung out for a while today.
The beach was beautiful yesterday very cold but bright and sunny, the dogs love it there and are in and out of the sea constantly, sisters pup does not really like water but followed the other dogs in and out, we were there about an hour and in the end the pup sat down on the sand and was shivering all over, we quickly got them back to the car and home, showered them off and then they slept in front of a roaring fire for a while and dried off / warmed up.
Mum is coming for dinner today, she gave me a massive bit of pork she had in her freezer so I will cook that, it should do a fair few meals, I will cook her one for tomorrow too. She is feeling very down atm and missing my brother terribly he was the apple of her eye and she is struggling without him, I dont think she will ever really get over losing him
OH will take the dogs out today while I get the dinner ready, we have sweede and carrot mash which I love, sweetheart cabbage, leeks and peas, the dogs love sundays as they have the leftovers, although not the leeks.
Have good days all xxx13 -
Hi everyone,
Gers, how exciting, you deserve every good thing you get.
dp1, how is little one's chest now? Also I was thinking about DD because she had a few health problems as well didn't she, is she better now?
We're slowly getting to grips with the house. Steve contacted a local charity that provides furniture for people in need so they are coming to collect the shelves, bedside table and bed we are getting rid of. They said they would inspect the mattress before deciding whether to take it but I don't see it being a problem, the bed has only been slept in a handful of times and it looks like new, it also has the fire retardent label. We've also got a rug that I'll see if they want, Steve cleaned it yesterday.
It's a lovely day here so there will be a dog walk somewhere nice hopefully, might see if Chris and Crystal want to meet somewhere to walk.
Have a good day everyone.13 -
i*Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. Hope today is a better one for you. Keep under that fleecy blanket for another day.
Woke up to a very thick frost early doors but that soon disappeared once the sun got over the tops. And it's forecast to stay with us all day. A bit of a different day from last Sunday when the storms were battering us all. And that brings me to storm damage and our chimney and roof!! Obviously ex SIL hasn't changed and he is still as unreliable as he always was! He didn't come up yesterday and I haven't heard word that he will be coming up today either. I wouldn't be as annoyed if it was just my damage but next door is involved too and I now feel bad for organising him to do it. Oh well he will appear in his own good time I suppose and as long as it stays dry no harm will be done.
I have just had an extended phone call from one of my buddies about an exercise bike (long story!!) and of course the conversation extended to more and more topics as well, as they do! Anyway my veg are now prepped for lunch and soup made for my forthcoming lunches so my feet are up for a little while now. I am trying to avoid watching the news as much as I have been but I am still drawn to it. It's one heart rending story after another.
Have as good day as you can folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. GERS sounds like a good birthday was had. Take care one and all and stay safe xx

Morning all, well I ploughed my way through the washing mountain yesterday which was mostly thick, heavy clothes, like fleece tops, jackets and joggers. I didn't put it out to dry either as it only got up to 5 degrees, brrrr. I've had the heating on since we came home on Friday as I just couldn't get warm, so I dried the washing on the radiators and there's only a few things left to dry now. Today I shall sort the dry clothes out and put them away as they were just stacked into the ironing basket last night and also put our bags away neatly, rather than throwing them jumble sale style 😂. I also want to check the freezers and make a list as I've forgotten what's in there ( no idea where I've put the last list either, should be pinned to the board but it isn't ) I didn't feel much like freezer diving yesterday, I was cold enough as it is 🥶 so we had an easy sausages and oven chips for tea because they were at hand on the top 😀. I also pulled out from the top, some lo cooked liver and onions to defrost, so I'll make liver ragout for today, now there's only the rice to cook later. As we're back on the diets I'll have a web wander to find some new recipes this afternoon.
Scarlet sorry you were feeling poorly yesterday, I hope you feel much better today.
Gers glad that you had a good day yesterday and some lovely presents and cards.
RedRuby massive hugs going to your DM
taff hugs
Yorkslass I was very envious of your seafood platter and brown bread and butter, just my cup of tea and fair made my mouth water 🤤 Belated happy birthday to your DGS.
Right better get on and do something, I had a lie in this morning and I haven't even got dressed yet !!
Take care all, stay safe and well

I'm back again, thanks for the good wishes folks, feeling much better today. You're all sorted for your trip Gers, it'll be wonderful to see your family.
Redruby, sorry to hear your Mum is so down, it's hard when children pass away before their parents. I don't think my Dad ever really got over the loss of my brother, 4 years after my mum passed away. It's hard to know what to say and how to comfort them.
Hope your ex Sil doesn't hang about much longer with repairing the roof TA, you don't want further damage with rain
Glad you've enjoyed your holiday Nanny, it does you good to get out of home routines for a while. Pity about the washing though!
Talking about washing, I've got some to go out, and another load in, make the most of the dry weather. I'm not doing much today tho.
Have good days all12 -
Snoozer - thanks for asking.
Little one seems to have one chest infection after the other at the minute - she's just finished antibiotics and steroids. The steroids make her hyper and stop her sleeping! Fingers crossed, at the minute, she's fine apart from a very runny nose.
She's just walked back up the hill from my mam and dads house - it was quite slow but she loved it and collected lots of sticks and pine cones.
Her mummy, my youngest DD has several health problems, in particular very high blood pressure and migraines. This has been a problem since she was pregnant with little one - she takes tablets and has regular blood tests. However it's very difficult to get blood from her. She's also still waiting to go for an operation on the nerves on her bladder - no idea when that will be.
She manages the best she can, but often finds it a struggle , especially when little one has so many medical problems.
I help her as much as I can, but it's been quite difficult while I've been ill too.
There's a lot of people with a lot worse problems than us though!
Little one has just finished her lunch - we're going to see if the washing's dry.14 -

I can recall posts about fasciitis but can't recall if it was your daughter or someone else.Ruby / Scarlet - my mother never got over the death of my brother in 2007, it doesn't seem right that parents go before their children. After his death my DM became even more worried about me, it became quite suffocating and difficult for me. When I was with her it wasn't much easier but I understood her reasons.TA - that's so annoying, I did a little gggggrrr for you.Nan - all that washing sounds a pain for you. That's always the downside of a holiday. I'm taking old knickers to wear when I'm away next week and shall bin them each day. I've done that for years and years, I think it's the thought of a customs officer doing a check of my suitcase and coming across used knickers.*shudder*
I decided to go into town to get the pickle and chocolate and boy was the wind biting! So far it's been clear and dry though I think that rain is on the horizon. When I got back I did some log flinging in the big barn. New wood was put on top of old wood (not the fault of the chap up the hill, it was a time thing) and I need to get to the old stuff. There's a lot more to move but baby steps, I really need to use the moisture meter to separate the logs out, might do more tomorrow. My chicken is ready now and I'm hungry.13 -
Been to Church - service was all about Ukraine. The labels on the prayer tree have names of a city on them for individual prayers.

Florence, I am an atheist but I really respect the Salvation Army for all the good they do and always support them when I see a collector. Your church seems very caring.11

Gers Good idea about the old throwaway knickers. Most of my clothes, including underwear, are newish and only worn on hols ( I'm weird I know ) so they will all be washed and put away ready for next hols. Think that's the reason why I have so many clothes stuffed in different wardrobes/drawers 🙄! Sadly I still look like a sack tied up awkward, I have no style sense whatsoever 😂 Enjoy your chicken.
dp1 sorry to read that little one keeps having infections. Hope you are able to cope with work on your return. I shall send healing vibes for all of you.
Scarlet I'm glad you're feeling a bit better. Don't do too much today and make sure you put your feet up.
