can you think of a better bathroom layout?

sorry for the very bad drawing there weren't many options in the online tool but i'm wondering if there's anything obvious we're missing for making this bathroom better. it's only a very small space but we have to work with what we've got (my OH says i'm not allowed to knock down any more walls this year and it's only February!) :)

This is what it currently looks like. its currently a wet room but the floor is buckled so we have to rip it out.

at the moment the plan is to move the shower so it's on the same wall as the sink and toilet, put in a low profile tray the whole length of the back wall to make a walk in shower area, tile the rest of the floor and shower area, then put a floor to ceiling heated towel rail behind the door (to replace a small radiator) and replace the shower curtain with a floor to ceiling glass wall so it looks more like this:

but i'm wondering about moving the toilet and sink around so i can maybe have a longer vanity from the window to the door (current sink is about 40cm and is just a half circle sink on a piller. is that much work and is there a reason it would be a bad idea?

thanks

oh forgot to say budget is about 3 or 4k excluding any labour

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

The route out for the waste pipe from your toilet will dictate where it can go - If you have a solid concrete floor with a waste pipe going straight down through it, your options are limited.

i think it runs under the sink to the corner where the shower is which is why the floor under the sink is buckled. but the question was a bit more if there was any benefit or problem with having a bathroom laid out differently not just moving the toilet but anything else anyone would do differently with the space given we have a chance now to change things.,

Are you able to change the door so that it opens outwards?  We did, and that made our 1800x1800 bathroom work for us...particularly with a wall width mirror to double the space!

One advantage of placing a toilet close to a wall is you then have somewhere to hang a toilet roll. Sure, you could put the loo roll on the vanity unit, put that means twisting to reach for a sheet.

yes we could do that but at the moment i'm not sure what that would get us given the space it will free up is in front of the toilet? our space is 2.2x1.7m there's a small radiator behind the door currently and we're planning on replacing it with a wet heated towel rack so there's less stuff on the back of the door.

maybe not this one but like this

thought is making the space monochromatic will help it feel bigger, so thinking two walls of dark blue tiles to waist high then white above, other walls white paint, black shower tray and floor tiles, glass and black shower screen and black towel rail/taps

You are in a soft water area, then?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
  • My toilet and sink were changed around in my new bathroom. I’ve no idea how it was done ( concrete floors)  but it didn’t seem to be a problem for them to do
  • if you're moving the shower head to the wall that the loo's on, do yourself a favour and put the controls on the wall opposite so your don't have to drench yourself turning it on & off!

As a man who has been known to wet shave I have a personal dislike for basins under windows rather than in front of a wall with a mirror.
I actually used to do bathroom specification sales to housebuilders - when asked, none of them could explain why they did it ...

If you meant move the basin/vanity to the r/h wall it doesn't look like you would gain much/anything if your drawing is accurate. You could always cut it out of paper/mark it  to check.

As mentioned already what you can/can't do with the soil waste will dictate your options.
